The Tom Tzouvelis-trained speedster clocked an extraordinary 29.46 seconds, the eighth-fastest time ever over 520m at Albion Park, cementing his status as a major contender for next week’s $250,000 final.
Joining him in the star-studded final is Vincent Bale, who continued his scintillating form after his near-record 29.41 win at The Meadows with a commanding 29.65 effort in Heat 2.
Daysea’s Rory (29.58) and Mepunga Tully (29.55) also claimed impressive heat wins, rounding out a competitive field that promises fireworks in Thursday night’s feature event.
Pre-qualified for the final through the Golden Ticket, Good Odds Cobber maintained his status as a leading contender with a stunning 23.74 post-to-post trial earlier in the evening.
Drawing box one for the final, Cobber will be tough to beat as he takes on a mix of interstate and local challengers.
Meanwhile, Deadly Avenger faces the tricky box four, and Vincent Bale, the $4.50 pre-race bookmaker favourite, will need to capitalise on box three to secure a clear path to victory.

Vincent Bale delivered a thrilling performance in Heat 2 of the Gold Bullion at Albion Park, showcasing his class and determination with a commanding come from behind victory.
After a slow start from box six, the Samantha Grenfell-trained brindle chaser powered through the field with a blistering mid-race surge, stopping the clock at 29.65 seconds. Magistrate led the race early but ultimately finished second, with Sooty Keeping rounding out the placings.
With his latest win coming just days after a dominant display at The Meadows, Vincent Bale has reaffirmed his reputation as a top contender for the $150,000 Group 1 final.
Known for his strong finishing burst and ability to recover from challenging positions, the Christo Bale-sired chaser will now look to secure his place in the history books in next week’s marquee event.
Albion Park Gold Bullion Heat 3 – Daysea’s Rory (29.58)
Daysea’s Rory delivered a stirring performance in Heat 3 of the Gold Bullion at Albion Park, showcasing his grit and determination to secure a narrow yet impressive victory.
Jumping from box seven, the Tom Tzouvelis-trained fawn chaser overcame early congestion to assert his dominance in the latter stages, clocking a strong 29.58 seconds.
Warm Cockles gave a spirited chase to finish just half a length behind, with Orli Bale completing the top three.
Known for his consistency and mid-race acceleration, the Queensland-trained chaser will look to capitalise on his home track advantage and his proven ability to rise to the occasion in high-stakes events.
Albion Park Gold Bullion Heat 4 – Mepunga Tully (29.65)
Mepunga Tully showcased her class with a commanding victory in Heat 4 of the Gold Bullion at Albion Park.
The Jeff Britton-trained chaser was sharp out of the boxes, taking the early lead and dictating terms throughout the 520m journey.
Stopping the clock at a slick 29.55 seconds, Mepunga Tully finished 1.25 lengths clear of Spirit Boy, with Newton Hayze rounding out the top three.
This performance marks another milestone for the Victorian-raider, who delivered the second-fastest heat time of the night.
Having acclimatised to the Queensland circuit during recent visits, Mepunga Tully has demonstrated her readiness to take on the nation’s best in next week’s Group 1 final.
The daughter of Fernando Bale will now look to secure a favourable box draw as she targets the $250,000 winner’s purse.
