Simulate claims Golden Chase glory in Tzouvelis masterclass
Simulate gave trainer Tom Tzouvelis his fourth win in the Group 3 Golden Chase Final at Ipswich on Saturday night, producing a brilliant all-the-way performance in 30.50.
Drawn out in box seven at $8 odds with the top greyhound bookmakers, Simulate pinged the lids and was able to avoid early drama at the first turn where several runners, including kennelmate Stowaway, encountered severe interference.
Once clear, the daughter of Koblenz and Sherbini extended her lead down the back and held off late challenges to score by two lengths over longshot Power Of Whiskey, with Stowaway charging into third after a luckless start.
The victory added to Tzouvelis’ Golden Chase haul, having won previously with Pacific Flash (2001), Pedro’s Thunder (2011) and Saanvi (2024) – the latter being a half-sister to Simulate.

The race has been a rich source of success for both the trainer and breeder-owners Pete and Sonia Davis, who have now bred back-to-back winners of the event.
While Stowaway entered as the favourite from the red, it was Simulate’s early speed and clean run that proved the difference. Say When Glen and Tricky Micky finished close-up, but the race was ultimately shaped by the early shuffle.
With 7 wins from 21 starts, Simulate is now bound for the Rockhampton Cup, where she’ll look to extend her impressive form.
The Golden Chase win further showcases the strength of the Koblenz-Sherbini litter and the depth in the Tzouvelis kennel.
The win also highlighted the contribution of kennel foreperson Jedda Cutlack, who took charge on the night while Tzouvelis travelled to Sydney.
The smooth-running operation continues to churn out big-race contenders, and Simulate’s triumph is the latest success in a remarkable partnership between breeder, trainer and team.
The 2025 Golden Chase also marked the final race meeting ever held at the Ipswich Showgrounds, with the Queensland facility now officially closed. It was a fitting farewell as one of Queensland’s most successful trainers signed off in style.
