She’s Gifted & Miss Splendamiro head early Brisbane Cup market
THIS year's Group 1 Brisbane Cup (520m) could be a two-act interstate affair if the markets are to be trusted after online bookmaker Sportsbet installed She's Gifted and Miss Splendamiro as the joint $5 favourites for the December 6 feature at Albion Park.
Victoria's third placed runner in last Friday's Melbourne Cup She's Gifted sits alongside NSW raider Miss Splendamiro, which was the second reserve in the Cup, at the head of affairs as the only chasers in single figures for the $100,000 Group 1 race.
The Australian Cup runner up Hasten Slowly ($10 at BetEasy) is on the next line of betting alongside trio Maurice Minor, Orson Allen and Wise Misty.
The market is favouring the interstate duo however, with She's Gifted looking to replicate the career-best form which saw her round out the placings in the $630,000 Melbourne Cup in the bitch's 29th start.
Manager of the Syndicate that owns She's Gifted, Terry Solier, said prior to the third placed showing that She's Gifted had exceeded his syndicate's expectations.
“Our little girl is in the Melbourne Cup and I can tell you that not many of our syndicate have slept this week and nor will they until the race has been run,” the syndicate manager said.
“We are over the moon.”
