Allen Deed Sets The Standard In Group Two Bob Payne Sprint Heats

Victorian trainer Andrea Dailly is no stranger to success at Wentworth Park and is on track to secure another Group win with , who recorded a blistering time of 29.43 in heat one.

Starting as the $2.90 favourite with punters, the son of and Greta Bale began moderately from box eight, before mustering brilliant pace down the back straight to sit behind early leader Yogi Blue. He then showed acceleration at the top of the home turn, saluting by nine and a quarter lengths over Yogi Blue. Even more pleasing for Dailly, was a scorching run home time of 11.51, placing him in good stead for next week's final. Allen Deed notched up his seventeenth career win last night from just thirty eight starts and already has an impressive prizemoney total of $111,510.

A depleted second heat saw both reserve runners gain a start, with new track record holder Silent Effective all the rage at $2.00. Andrea Dailly's Ollie Bale also received plenty of support from punters at $3.30 and began quickly from box two along with inside runner Fred Sealey. Second reserve Asia's Babe mustered good pace from box four and headed into the back straight in second position. The Marie Burton trained chaser took the lead over Fred Sealey heading for home and raced away to score by three lengths over first reserve runner Hayden Hair. The daughter of and Kenso Rain recorded her tenth career win last night and clocked a smart time of 29.88.

Last week's Group One Megastar runner up Ritza Hattie stepped out in heat three and was made the $4.80 equal favourite along with inside runner Give You Credit and Rue De Kahn in a wide open affair. Ritza Hattie began beautifully from box six and quickly took the lead at the first turn over Rue De Kahn, who was making good ground along the rail. Coming to the home turn, Rue De Kahn desperately tried to make a late lunge at the two-time Group winner and missed by a head, with Ritza Hattie victorious in a time of 29.75. Trainer Mark Gatt will be looking to notch up his third Group win with the daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and Midnight Flare, who recorded her fifteenth win last night, taking her prizemoney total to an impressive $171,460.

The fourth and final heat included last week's Group One Dapto Megastar winner Tommy Brislane exiting from box three. He started at $2.70 with punters over Victoria runner Crackerjack Dak at $3.80. The trained chaser began brilliantly as expected and led all the way in a flying time of 29.64. The son of and Mary Virginia recorded his eleventh win from just fifteen starts and continues to uphold his reputation as one of the best sprinters in the state. Tommy Brislane will be looking to add the $40,000 in prizemoney on offer next week to his prizemoney total of $122,340. Evil Punk ran a brilliant race to finish second and has only been unplaced once out of his past seven starts. The trained chaser reduced the winning margin to two and three quarter lengths and will be a formidable force if he gets some room to move in the final.
