Gazza Shiraz Claims Charcoal Inn Casino Cup Final

Fastest qualifier again proved too strong in taking out the Charcoal Inn Casino Cup Final last Friday. Early pacemaker looked all over a winner at the top turn after running some fast sectionals, but when the pressure came, it was left to Gazza Shiraz to power home.

Kay Size State held on well for second, while local hope ran third.

He recorded a fast 27.23 in winning by 1 1/4 lengths. His next missions are the Ipswich and cups that come up later this month and in early November.

Five heats of the Westlawn Finance Spint over 411 metres were conducted with some sound performances being recorded.

The well performed Yorklea Valley set the time standard with a 22.95 run. He didn't have it all of his own way though, as went with him in the early stages. Next best time was recorded by Eighteen Months who was having his first look at the Casino track. He got to the lead down the back and ran 23.21.

Arren Jeffrey got a big break to win by eleven lengths in 23.33, whilst made it two wins in a row by winning in 23.37. Final heat went to She Rose High who finished over the top of her opponents to clock 23.51.

It is interesting to note that four of the five heat winners came from box eight.

Imagine Midnight ran her rivals off their legs by leading thoughout in the Ranvet distance stake. She ran 35.80 for Warren and Shane Ensby, whilst old stager Special Phantom won the other 620 metre race. This four and a half year old and veteran of 135 starts just kept grinding away and wore his rivals down to win by a neck in 35.86. John Free trains him at Fairy Hill.

Allan Lang's led all of the way in the Mc Donald's Pharmacy maiden winning by 3 3/4 lengths in 27.92, while took out the Casino RSM club Free For All. Having his first start over the longer trip he got to the front in the back section before going on to score by 3 1/4 lengths in 27.52.

Night Marc put in an explosive run when he got to the rails to take out the Casino Rural Traders maiden in 23.23 for Laurie Walker and Write Of Bart ended proceedings in winning the last for . He ran 27.92 and won by a neck.

The club conducts a double header this weekend with TAB racing on Friday afternoon, followed by the heats of the Pop Nothfield maiden on Sunday. It's always an enjoyable day out at the Casino greyhounds with full TAB, canteen and bar facilities.
