Queen Rose Overcomes Setback To Live Right Up To Potential

The 2008 3 Potential Stakes was over once Queen Rose able to take charge down the back stright after nearly falling on the first corner when Wild Nimuay galloped across her heels and took out the other challenger, Sydney Vella.

Once clear down the back Queen Rose was able to shake off the only unlikely challenge of Raw Character, and despite backing up off a damaging run at on Wednesday night; she toughed out the run home to take the $15,000 to the winner 2008 Potential Stakes final.

Known for her strength in running, Queen Rose was easily the quickest of the three heat winners and would have started “odds-on” had she drawn any other box, but bookies took her on, betting as much as $3.50 after a torrid run in the $5,000 to the winner 2008 Bathurst RSDL Soldiers Saddle Final on Wednesday night.

The run to the first corner proved to be chaotic to some , with all eight runners inconvenced at some point but when Queen Rose crossed to the rail in front Wild Nimuay, it proved a race winning move as it left the daughter of Cool and Yozi Token alone in front with only the outsider Raw Character to conetend with.

It was the point of the race where most supporters expected Queen Rose to run right away with the race, but the quick backup and early trouble told Raw Character managed to get as close as 1.75 lengths from Queen Rose at the finish. Sydeny Vella was further 3.25 lengths back in third after copping the brunt of Wild Nimuay's interference in the first corner mayhem.

The win took Queen Rose's impressive record to six wins from just the nine starts and career prizemoney of over $21,000 for trainer Kristy Sultana and owner .

The 26kg black bitch was now won eveyrone of her starts at all tracks she has started, with the notable exception of Bathurst where she has been unplaced at every start. Her best times so far are Richmond 535m – 30.81, 515m – 30.13 (Best Of Night) and Wentworth Park 520m – 30.19.

The success of Queen Rose would come as little surprise to owner Didic, as he owned the dam Yozi Token, a litter sister to stud dog and winner . Queen Rose looks like being the best of Yozi Token's second litter to race, although another bitch from the February 2007 litter, Monique's Doll is yet to race.
