In the pouring rain a solid ten race card forged ahead at Canberra on Sunday night, with Canberra trainer Mark Chalker and Gunning trainer Andy Lord picking up doubles.
South Canberra based Mark Chalker was the first to enter the winners circle as the first of his two Maiden’s Pedro’s Mobile cracked his first career win, beating short price favourite Silverwater who lead to the 600 boxes, Daper Mickie coming in third in 25.90.
Chalker’s other Maiden Ebony Devil, a litter sister to the earlier winner finally showing her potential after appearing in Victorian Breeders Maiden Series at the Meadows back in September. The black bitch copping trouble early at the first, which could of easily put her out of the race, however she came again down the back and opening up an eight and a quarter win.
Andy Lord started his double with Mark Gatt owned Ritza Surf who took out the Canberra Mower Services 5th grade 530metre event, over Blue Sky Blues and Anna Osti in 31.04.
His second win of the night it coming with maiden Unique Unit triumphing in the mixed grade Climate Doctor Sprint in 18.06, over Aranda and Garland Jewel.
The feature finals of the evening saw trainers with only one greyhound for the meeting, walkaway with the chocolates.
Julie Brodie from Appin taking out the Valley Tavern Novice Sprint Final with her Brett Lee x Realon Melody Black Dog, Realon Rapture in a best of the night performance of 17.95.
The Kilcoyne Kennels Final over the 600metres saw Carley Cougar for Jason Platts lead all the way over a strong finishing Vallee Rattler and More To State.
Other winners for the evening included Colonel Solo who lead all the way to secure his first Canberra win, well supported favourite Feel The Fear for Lorraine Roy, Liana Pronto for Ken Staines and Buddha’s Girl for Trevor Peck who secured her fifth career win in 18.21 over Fully Armed and the second of Peck’s starters in the event Twilight Tornado.
