$50,000 Goodesy Bonus For The First Good One

An unprecedented to be the first race winner of fledgling sire can intensify breeding interest in the industry, according to Greyhound () Chief Executive .

The breeders' incentive was officially rubber stamped at GRNSW offices on Monday and will include a $50,000 bonus to Goodesy's first Group winner mated on or after November 1.

Goodesy will stand at John and ' Journey Park Stud on Sydney's outskirts where the phones have already been ringing hot about potential services.

Mr Hogan said his organisation was delighted to recognise any innovation to spike breeding interest and promote NSW-based sires.

“We see this as an excellent innovation that will promote the local breeding industry here in NSW,” Mr Hogan said.

“With such an attractive financial available to breeders, we were only too happy to work through the finer details to make the agreement official.

“Ultimately, the financial rewards for being the first Group race winner sired by Goodesy will be returned to a breeder in the industry and that sits comfortably within our goal of making the greyhound racing industry a financially attractive one.”

Goodesy, an electrifying chaser out of super sire and a proven dam in Frosty Fruits, set the track alight in an eventful racing career which netted 16 wins from just 27 starts.

He won his first eight racetrack appearances and had a half share purchased for a reported figure of more than $200,000 near the end of his racing career.

The race to be Goodesy's first Group race winner is likely to create plenty of industry interest over the next few years with the bonus to be paid to the breeder of the victor at a Group One, Group Two or Group Three level.
