Rain And Shine At Melton For The Sylvester Doyle

Sunday at Melton saw day one of the first Classic meeting on the calendar for 2014. Yes we had the rain and a little sunshine but thank goodness for small mercy's, the forecasted hail stayed away.

First up were the puppies contesting this year's and we ended up with 39 starting off the morning. There were some fantastic displays along the way and some close courses too which kept the judge on their toes all day. Once again did a fantastic job getting the dogs out of slips in somewhat trying conditions, so well done again Peter.

The 2014 was also on the card starting today and we had 16 all aged greyhounds contest this event. Entrants were required to complete two courses this week and another two next Sunday. Our four semi-finalists are Tennessee Gal (), Shifty Mifty (David Dawson), Why Not Al (Wayne Mannix) and Connemara Flame (Jerry Maye). Again I wish all of you a good rest and look forward to seeing you and charges ready to go again next Sunday.

The final event on today's card was the Western Districts Maiden Championship Cup. We had twenty greyhounds at the start of the day and after three courses we were left with just three to come back for the finals next week and they are: Queer Banana (), Miss Geeves (David Dawson) and Magic Flyer (Jessie Fothergill). Again these maiden greyhounds showed some fantastic displays of coursing throughout the day in trying conditions at times and I again wish you all luck in next week's finals.

Next Sunday will be the final day of this meeting, so as well as the continuation of these three events we will also have supporting events for All Aged, One/Two Win Limit, Maidens and of course Puppies. So if you ran out of luck today or just couldn't make it, entries for next Sunday close this Wednesday 2nd July, 2014 at 4pm.
