Doubles To The Newcomers!

Two relative newcomers to field racing scored doubles. Ken Gill scored with Mozzie Creek and What's up Watto, whilst Rob Harnas had Hired Gun and Bodacious Stride salute. Whilst it rained on Saturday, Sunday dawned clear and sunny conditions prevailed for the day's racing. With an eight race program containing a mix of four dog and eight dog stakes, racing had finished by 12.30 or thereabouts. Time honours for the day went to the trained Vail, running 15.09 in the final course of the final event.

After the huge response to our first two meetings with 70+ and 80+ nominations, the club had to act to ensure that we can continue to provide field racing as a viable alternative for owners/trainers, otherwise we were on track to deplete our $25000 subsidy in the next few meetings. The Club has quarantined young greyhounds into four dog events and also changed the conditions to allow a young dog to win four Juvenile events before it progresses to an eight dog Novice. Eight dog events will be run for all greyhounds who have raced previously (circle/straight), remembering of course that it's only the final two greyhounds who must run three times.

Prizemoney has also been reviewed and now stands at four dog events, winner $120 and runner up $40; eight dog events, winner $190 and Runner up $70. Nomination fees remain at $8 for four dog and $10 for eight dog events.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday 15 June with all grades catered for.
