Australian greyhound racing tips for Thursday 3rd February 2011 with selections from Warragul greyhounds (Victoria), Grafton greyhounds (NSW) , Bendigo greyhounds (Victoria), Sandown greyhounds (Victoria), Dapto greyhounds (New South Wales), Maitland greyhounds (New South Wales), greyhounds (Queensland), Launceston greyhounds (Tasmania), Angle Park greyhounds (South Australia), and Mandurah greyhounds (West Australia).

The highlight of todays greyhound racing will be the final of the to Dapto final at Dapto with Cowra local Rod McDonald holding a good hand in the event as both a trainer and owner. Other races of interest will be the low grade 700m event at Bendigo where the Jimmy Auuld trained Punk Warrior should be devastating, and the heats of the Show Time Cup at Maitland sees some very fast 5th grade greyhounds engaged over the 450m.

Warragul Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 3 – Chimichanga – 2:55pm Vic time

The Nicole Mcrae trained Chimichanga has had just the 4 career starts for the 1 win her last week in 23.11, but has also won two qualifying trials both at over 311m. Last start Chimichanga led all the way here running 8.42 early from box 6. A re[pepeat of thaat kind of first sectional will see the black dog again leading and there's not much in this that looks capable of running him down, even if he doesn't break 23.

Grafton Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 2 – Shalana Magic – 3:47pm NSW time

The Jimmy Madigan trained Shalana Magic has an enviable record over this trip at Grafton, having raced here 11 times for 5 wins and 5 placings. Add to the record the box 2 draw where the daughter of has had 3 starts for 3 wins and we have found the best bet of the day at Grafton. The brindle bitch is just 28kg and takes no effort at all to muster from the boxes. Look for here to lead this quickly and lead all the way.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 2 – Punk Warrior – 6:27pm Vic time

Early markets have this greyhound at $2.50 but if you can get anything on at black odds come race time, you should grab it. A rare 700m race here at Bendigo and the undoubted class runner of the race is Punk Warrior trained by Jimmy Auld. Some of the greyhounds from the Punk Portrait damline can be wayward, but they are extremely fast when on the job as evidenced by Punk Warrior's 21.99 Sheparton 390m win last year. Has been stepping up to this and recent form looks ordinary but should have no trouble accounting for this lot.

Sandown Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 6 – Good Investment – 7:24pm Vic time

The John Westerlo trained Good Investment has the average record of 3 wins and 3 placings from 13 starts, but among those starts was a flying 29.73 win here over 515m and a good second over this 595m trip in 34.54. The 2010 Longwood Derby finalist in the coursing, is rumoured to be one of the fastest greyhounds Westerlo has trained, and he has had some good ones. Reputed to be capable of trialling quicker than the 29.73 win here at Sandown, we have to be one the son of Pure Octane who should be able to lead this despite the awkward box. Highballing out in front, this bloke can run time,.

Dapto Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 8 – Dana Mel – 8:55pm NSW time

The Rod McDonald owned and trained greyhound Dana Mel is one of two McDonald owned greyhounds in the race, the other is boxed directly in side her in box 7, Light Scotch. Dana Mel was a commanding winner in the heats that led to this race and she has now had 16 starts for 4 wins and 4 placings. Amongst those wins is here last start 26.16 Cowra effort and a good 30.04 Bathurst 520m win where she led all the way. Finished 6th at her only start here but this is easier and should get the fly from the outside and prove to good.

Maitland Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 8 – Robbo – 10:49pm NSW time

Long wait for the last race here but save some to have on Robbo who looks set to end a frustrating run of placings in this. Has won just the 1 race from 10 starts but has run 6 placings. Importantly that only win came from box 8 as well at The Gardens and saw Robbo win in 23.19. Get an easier race here than 2 starts ago where he was narrowly run down by Hanify's Jewel, the corrected time showing 22.72. Thats good enough to take this out but definitely needs to lead.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 2 – Outa Credit – 10:49pm Qld time

Reg Kay has announced his return to Queensland greyhound racing in a big way with a good winner yesterday and two high quality greyhounds entered here for the top grade race of the night. Outa Credit and Elite Blue Size are both extremely fast greyhounds and both should fight this finish out. Outa Credit was first up last week from a spell and middle distance racing when a good winner here in 30.13 from box 6. On that occassion he was nearer last than first down the back straight but still managed to finish over the top of them to beat Franklin Style who has box 1 in this race this week. Elite Blue Size is first up here since late December 2010 when contesting a heat of the Cup and finishing 6th. Look for Franklin Style and Elite Blue Size to lead early but Outa Credit should position up closer this week and get over them late.

Launceston Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 1 – Whitney's Wonder – 8:42pm Tas time

The owned and trained Whitney's Wonder has won three of his past 4 starts and is first up here after succumbing to injury when finishing last behind I'm A Fencer at Hobart on 11th January. Prior to that had won a Hobart 340m in 19.33, and here in 30.47 in November 2010. Looks well drawn and should be firing after the short break. Box draw brings us in here and has won 3 of 14 starts here on the track.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 2 – Kalden Mayhem – 9:11pm SA time

Kalden Mayhem didn't have much luck last start in Perth when contesting the heats of the 1 Perth Cup but returns here where he had won his past 2 starts in 29.93 and a flying 29.36. Back on home turf it is impossible to tip against a greyhuond capable of running 29.36 in this field and he should just lead and win with the only question being how far?

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 6 – Paddy Lawlor – 7:53pm WA time

Ex Victorian Paddy Lawlor had only moderate form in Victoria with wins at Shepparton in 26.01 and 25.70 from 4 starts. Since landing under the care of the sone of Premier Fantasy has had 3 starts for 3 2nds, imprving his times each week. last week he ran second over this track and distance to Valdron after leading and was only beaten 1.25 lengths in 22.63. That sort of time will take this race out tonight and only has to put himself in the picture early.
