Greyhound Betting Tips For Saturday 17th August 2013

It won’t be easy finding a winner here tonight, with hard races all around the country. Wentworth Park is exactly as its been described, in other form guides – a really challenging meeting. The Meadows has their finals of the National Sprint and Distance, with both races looking a wide open affair.

Kat Ernst has done her wrap up of the finals so I’ll just pick a selection or two for the major races. Instead I’ll try to focus on finding something to back to make a quid.

Wentworth Park Race Box 1 Calm Model 7.27pm

They are all such tough races here tonight that tough I decided not to watch any replays; I’d go insane trying to work them all out. Each race has plenty of chances, with dogs boxed well and others poorly. The best thing I can find is Calm Model here in the first. As always im ranting on about, boxes winning races and the Clay Mullens trained Calm Model has the cherry box here. She’s a pretty handy little bitch this girl with a turn of speed and strength. Forget her last couple of starts here where she drew wide and got hammered both times. She’s far better suited to the inside and can certainly win this of she uses the box to her advantage.
She does however need too boot up and lead, or at worst be second or third. There isn’t a great deal of speed drawn outside her and as long as she doesn’t bomb the start she’ll have enough to possie up. Once she finds her stride and balances up, she should rattle through on the inside and prove to strong. She has run a solid 29.92 here, and if she pings and goes tonight I reckon she can break into the 80s. Boxed well, speedy enough to possie and very strong. Big chance.

The Meadows Greyhounds Race 3 Box 1 Dashing Man 7.57pm

Forget the tip we gave you for this bloke last start, he just went ordinary. He’s extremely well suited here to the 600 and he’s drawn the right box in this. I have a fair opinion about this fellow and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet. His record is good and he’s in good form, he’s by the Queenslander Dashing Corsair so he’s got plenty of strength on his side. As long as he handles the tight Meadows circuit, I have no doubt he’ll be right in the mix here in this. Box 1 is a great box to have, but you must be able to use it. He’s not going to lead, but he will get his chance to balanced up just in behind them. If he does he’s a huge threat in the run to the line. It’s his first start here so don’t go silly, I would prefer to see how he handles the track first, ut hopefully we can get a fair eachway price about him, hopefully 6-1 and at those odds he’s worth the punt. Keep ya eye on this fellow; good things to come I think.

Cannington Greyhounds Race 6 Box 4 Special Pup 8.50 W.A time

I gave you the heads up last time out with this fellow. I was concerned with him having to take on a Free To All field, but he just totally destroyed them. It was a walk in the park for the talented youngster. He steps back up here to headquarters, where quite frankly he has a shocking record. He’s had 6 goes here for a woeful, 1 win record in ordinary time and that’s the main concern, but here’s really flying at the moment. I think there much bigger and better things to come from this fellow. He’ll lead this field with ease here tonight if he jumps, and he should burn right away form this field in the early stages. Based on his flying 27.32 win at Mandurah, he should have no trouble running sub 30.50 and if he’s out and running on the bunny, the dog who beats him will have to put in a massive performance. I really like this fellow after watching his unbelievable run at Mandurah a couple of starts ago and I’ll be having a red hot go at him here tonight. Massive chance and could be the start of something special.

My National picks are: Distance Championships 2-3-5-7, Sprint Championships 5-1-8-2.

Best of Luck
