Greyhound Racing Tips For Monday 17th August 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound’s Greyhound Racing Tips for Monday 17th August 2009 with Tips tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales).

Another huge night of tipping Saturday night, with our tips finding Smashing Amy $3.60+, Jamaican Bolt $3.20+, Velocette $3.70+, Gardam Prince $1.70+ and Turanza Bale $1.30+. In addition to that we tipped a few at odds that only just missed including Fabrice Bale 3rd $5.70+ and Cosmic Rumble 2nd $9+. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet get yourself set up with an account at Sportsbet, Iasbet, Sportingbet, Centrebet or Betfair and start winning more.

With racing tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.

Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races.

The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90’s. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on lure system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for connections and there are very few genuine stayers.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 6 – That’s Charlie

The Dave Geall trained That’s Charlie made it two from two with us on him last Monday night by again flying the lids and making every post a winner in 30.62 winning by 3 lengths from box 1. That followed a handy 30.69 maiden heat win from box 4. Only a small step up in grade here tonight and field and draw suggests he should lead again.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 1 – Box 6 – Jumpin’ Canary

No reason to jump off Jumpin’ Canary after last weeks run when leading almost all the way in 43.04. Thats the 4th win on the trot and 2 successes at Bulli and Richmond. Another in the Mark Bell kennel who knows a bit about the game. Racing in a purple patch and will pay to follow.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 1 – Azam

Don’t get sucked in to the hype around Murray Cod who has bee as costly and as slow as one at times and has gone out favourite and failed more than enough times for us to steer well clear. Azam on the other hand is stepping up to metro company for the first time and but has won twice from box 1 from 3 starts. Has a few handy times on the board including a 29.89 Dapto effort 4 starts back and a last start 30.44 Canberra win.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 5 – Baldessarni

Our selection last week Baldessarni had it won everywhere bar the post when Sand Burner whosshed past him in the shadows of the post at his first Wenty rub. Is another speedy type from the Aitchison line and another son of Collision, Baldessarni has now won 7 of his 12 starts and put 2 very good wins at Bulli back to back prior. Gets a similar draw with the speedy beginner but weak La Voca drawn under him and again he should get a perfect cart across the field to the lead.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 5 – Punk Appeal

Another of our selections last week, Punk Appeal put in one of his worst runs at recent starts after getting no room early. Had won well 3 starts back here coming from last and then ran second at Maitland. With the small field Punk Appeal should be able to find some room and make ground and is capable of sensational finshes when his head is in the game.
