Greyhound Racing Tips For Monday 20th July 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound’s free Greyhound Racing Tips for Monday 20th July 2009 with Tips tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales).

With racing tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.

Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races.

The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90’s. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on lure system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for connections and there are very few genuine stayers.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 8 – Pure Shiraz

Adter winning his past 2 starts at Sandown, both in sub 30 sec times, Pure Shiraz looks a graded certainty in this 5th grade. Has record 3 of his 4 wins from boxes 7 and 8 and drawn box 7 tonight is ideally placed. Cranbourne record is not flash but is well down in grade on recent winning runs.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 8 – Lady Gaga

The amazing run of good box draws on provincial tracks for leading trainer continues here with one-time assocaites Wayne Vassallo and Jason Thompson “bookending” this one in boxes 1 and 8. Thompson’s Lady Gaga looks the winner based on her past 3 wins in succession. Has won 8 of 11 starts and is yet to be unplaced.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 1 – Box 6 – Devine Road

Dual group winner Devine Road looks a moral to win this first event at Wenty tonight. First up from a break since adding the Group 2 Peter Mosman Classic to his Group 3 Magic maiden win, Devine Road is well down in class and with a record of 5 wins from 6 starts here at Wenty and a PB of 29.97 it should just be a matter of times and margins.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 5 – Root Canal

Peter Rodger’s trained Root Canal got the cash for us last week and followed up with a good second here on Saturday night. A super quick beginner he can offset the yellow rug and and make the best of the middle draw. Has accumulated a very good record of 5 wins and 2 2nds from 8 starts and should add to that win tally tonight.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 7 – Kidatee Alf

Going to follow up on Kidatee Alf here after we backed him last week and looked like heading for the win before fading at his first run here and finishing well out of it. The fact Brad Northfield has brought him back is a good indication and he will definitely lead again. With a more even field engaged there should plenty of trouble behind him and he might just steal the break this time.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 1 – Boo’s Polly

The Peter Jovanovic trained Boo’s Polly created a good impression offsetting an awkward box 5 draw and scoring a 30.31 debut win a week and a half ago leading all the way. The move to box 1 should only be in her favour and this is not a hard race.
