Greyhound Racing Tips For Wednesday 12th August 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's free Greyhound Racing Tips for Wednesday 12th August 2009 with Tips tonight from Bendigo (Victoria), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), (Queensland) and Cannington (West Australia).

Another good night on the punt last night with just the three selections showing another 33% profit at Sportsbet, , Iasbet, Sportingbet and . We offered just three selections but with two of those saluting and on a nice odds. Small fish are sweet, but of course we did manage to confuse Devine Road with Devine Ruler in the write up.

Devine Road is of course the multiple winning star in Pat Parelli's kennel, whereas last night's winner Devine Ruler although very well performed himself; is only related to Devine Road by the fact they have the same trainer. Thankfully we form our on races based on recent form, not pedigree; and those that followed out tips collected the cash which is what matters.

With greyhound racing tonight coming Bendigo (Victoria), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), Ipswich (Queensland), and Cannington (West Australia), lets review our betting advice for those tracks.

Bendigo is a speed track here in Victoria that favours greyhounds who can spear the boxes. You can win from behind at Bendigo but as it is only a 430m run most greyhounds can find the line. The 545m and rarely used 700m distances should be avoided as the 545m races start behind the corner and the 700m races rarely have enough exposed staying form or depth. The 430m races start at the top of the back straight and Bendigo is one of the few tracks where the 8 box is equally as good a draw as the 1. In fact the 1 box can be a problem draw unless you have enough pace to hold the rail and the lead. Outside those 2 boxes the 7 and surprisingly the 5 box are reasonable draws, but the 1 and the 8 win almsot twice as much as any other.

Warrnambool was redeveloped in 2008 to remove much of the bias and interference that occured on the old “egg” shaped track. Unfortunately while interference has been reduced, “transition turns” have turned the track in to a leader biased procession. In almost all races the winner comes from the greyhound in front about 50m from the boxes. Only strong railing greyhounds can make ground from behind and wide runners are decidedly disadvantaged. The red box is favoured over all distances.

Bulli, like Horsham is considered on of the fairest tracks in Australia, with every greyhound afforded a chance from any box. The 400m and 472m starts both demonstrate the normal greyhound race distribution of boxes 1,2,8,7 favoured, with the 472m start extremely even across all boxes with the exception of 1 and 8. The 515m start, being a slight corner start, has a preference toward the four inside boxes. The best betting races are the 472 events, but the 400m races and also attractive.

Ipswich can be a punters graveyard and as a general rule punters avoid investing in the 431m races unless you are laying them on Betfair, as the corner starts throws up many unlikely winners and lots of interference. If you must bet on these races, box 1 wins almost twice as many races as every other box with the exception of the second best box, box 2. The 520m races are a little more even, but have a decided bias toward the four inside boxes due to the short run to the corner and even class greyhounds find it hard to win from wide boxes. The 630m races are another corner start.

Cannington is one of the better two tracks which does tend to give greyhounds off the speed a chance to run on. Both the 530m, and 642m distances the inside boxes and the 1 box has a slight advantage over the 715m distance. The 297m races, starting at the top of the back straight, runs reasonably fairly, although box 1 is an advantage. The four inside boxes are advantaged over the 530m, the three inside boxes over the 642m and the 715m races reasonably evenly.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Eskimo Maggie

Eskimo Maggie is the closest thing you'll find to a track specialist in Victoria these days, having started in 30 of her 51 starts her at bendigo for 9 wins and 12 placings. Has an exemplary box 1 record with 8 wins and 3 placings from 12 starts out of the red box. Isn't getting any younger and after 2 good runs here in June has not shown usual early pace. Hasn't started for 2 weeks and should show the benefit of a short break.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Selynya Magic

stands out against a very ordinary field on a very ordinary card of greyhound racing from Warrnambool tonight. Has won 4 of 8 starts running 25.69 at Ballarat and 24.29 at Bendigo. 3 of those wins have been from wide boxes so the 8 box is a perfect draw. First start here but is generally pretty quick early and is drawn against a very weak 5th grade field.

Bulli Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 7 – Teeny Tiny

Don't be surprised to see Teeny Tiny reverse her last 2 poor runs and post a good win at odds. Won from this box 3 starts ago at and has won 2 of 4 career starts from this box. Had good New Zealand form before coming to Australia and gets the box to show her best again tonight at good odds.
