IT was a tough day at the office yesterday, not helped by the horrible weather that impacted racing at Geelong and Sandown Park.

True Talent ran well at Ballarat but couldn't overcome a missed start. Extreme Magic wasn't aided in any way by the wet track in the Victorian National Sprint heat, but was nonetheless disappointing; although few could've predicted all three favourites would fail in the race, which won by outsider Bruce Tycoon, paying $34 fixed.

So, yesterday put a hurdle in front of our profitability, but as there is never a last race, we'll push on with our greyhound tips in search of a winner today.

Best Bet: Race 1 Box 7 Salvarotti – Deposit $50 & bet with $150 on Topbetta's Global Tote
Astute trainers, the Auld's, have sent Salvarotti (Kiowa Mon Manny x Ursula Jun '15) up in distance and grade off his maiden win at this track over 425m last week at just his second race start. He was slow to begin that time but very strong to the line, and the extra ground looks ideal today in what has ended up a fairly weak mixed 6/7 race. Will get a decent price today as the greyhound's first run does not look good on paper, but the replay clearly shows him to have been dragged down in the run when being beaten 17 lengths at Shepparton. Rest assured this fellow looks talented and should easily account for the favourite, which will jump from box one.

Best Bet: Race 4 Box 8 Veracity – $500 Free Bet at Ladbrokes
Veracity (High Earner x Tantrum Dec '15) is the veteran of just two race starts coming through the Bendigo GRV Vic Breeders Maiden series, having no luck in the semi finals after and impressive 24.13 debut performance. Box eight suits perfectly here for what is likely to be the greyhound's first look at the track. It has a reasonably-quick beginner drawn to his immediate inside who should help run cover for him. From what we've seen Veracity doesn't mind racing wide and improving around dogs, so should get an ideal run from the draw and obviously has buckets of ability.

Best Bet: Race 2 Box 7 Brietta
You'd be forgiven for thinking we've gone mad here, but Brietta (Spring Gun x Little Bit Fancy May '14) is a very consistent place-getter who has more ability than her record would suggest. Always goes around at double figure odds, and is a great each way bet now that she is back on a more suitable track than the tight Gosford circuit. Has only won four of 42, but those wins include a 29.98 win at The Gardens. Form at this track reads poorly, but that reflects a rushed preparation for the inaugural Richmond Riches series. Will get back and run on strong and give you a great run for your money and good each way value in a race that she is well and truly capable of winning.

Best Bet: Race 7 Box 8 Desert Rampage – Crownbet deposit $40 bet with $140 offer
Chris Halse's Desert Rampage (Barcia Bale x Desert Spark Feb '15) is in sensational form having won three in a row and taking out the Mandurah Winter Sprint Series in the process. Has at least one lengths clear advantage over the rest of the field to the first sectional mark and that should be enough to race away with this Free For All event. Main danger is Skylab off the one box, but that should just help us get a price with Desert Rampage drawn out ti the eight box for the first time in his 25 start career.
