Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity – free tips and betting preview

THE stage is set for some dazzling action at Albion Park on Thursday night, headlined by the Group 2 Bogie Leigh Queensland Futurity over the 520m trip. The race is open to the best female greyhound whelped on or after October 1, 2013, with Fabregal the odds on favourite for the 2016 edition.

Rated a $1.90 shot with WilliamHill.com.au, the South Australian star is searching for her fifth successive victory in the $47,250 to the winner final, having posted the fastest heat win coming into the race.

Starting from the cherry in her heat, the daughter of Fabregas and Allinga Aye Jay made it a one act affair, leading all the way in a slick 29.91, with the black bitch set to exit an identical draw on Thursday night.

Next best in the market is NSW campaigner Dokmai (box eight) at $3.20 which scored a commanding 30.02 heat win over early series favourite Sheza Keen Size which will be out for redemption when she jumps from box four. The regally-bred daughter of Head Bound and Surf Queen has an affinity with the Brisbane track, having won seven races with a sizzling 29.87 personal best.

The Peter Ruetschi-trained speedster is currently on the third line of betting at $4.50 with Sportsbet.com.au, with a win in the final set to take her career earnings over the $90,000 mark.

The rest of the field is over double figure odds, headed by Tony Brett’s Split Image at $12 which will be aiming to give her trainer a fifth triumph in the Futurity when she jumps from box three.

The Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity is race seven on the card and is set to jump at 8:46pm.

“Ran a good second in her heat behind Fabregal at what was her first go over the 500. Should have derived plenty of benefit from that run, but would still probably need to lead clearly to have a chance of holding this lot out.”

“Hasn’t been showing as much dash as she did at the start of her career, but Brett says she has been freshened up for this race so it would not be a surprise to see her begin a lot better. Probably needs to lead clearly to win as she isn’t as strong as some of her competitors, but she is worth a small wager at odds.”
