Race 1 – 515M Grade 5 – 7:08PM
Tough race to open the card but All One Size has been racing in great form of late and with a clean getaway I think he can get us off to a flying start. Two starts ago he posted a top 30.50 Cranbourne win and he then followed that with a placing behind the talented Echelonic Action. His record suggests that he would be better suited to a wider draw, however he has a wide runner drawn directly outside him tonight and he should get every chance to drive through at the first bend.
Santa’s Special can be a hard dog to follow at times but she is very fast when out on the lure and she has a great turn of foot soon after box-rise. There isn’t a whole lot of speed drawn out wide in this event so I am anticipating that All One Size and Santa’s Special should both get a clear run early and they should control the event. Jersey Jack is obviously a winning prospect based on his 29.54 win here, but he is very hit or miss early and he will rely on a clear run early to feature. Noah Rose has the ideal draw out wide and he must be included in your exotic bets.
Top Four: 2 – 3 – 6 – 8
Win bets on All One Size and Santa’s Special.

Race 2 – 595M Grade 5 – 7:25PM
Hekate Belle has proven to be a little costly of late but with the step up in distance I’m willing to give her one more chance. After scoring at Shepparton in a brilliant 25.27 she has missed the kick in her three subsequent runs. Tonight over the longer journey she should be able to pounce on the early lead and regain some of her confidence. Obviously the journey is going to be a bit of worry as she hasn’t gone further than 525m in the past, however she will be setting a cracking pace and she should have built up a winning lead mid race.
Kulu Special is another dog that is hard to follow but when she is switched on she is brilliant. She has previously won at Wentworth Park in a sizzling 29.72 and she gives every indication that the rise in journey won’t pose too many problems. Shall She Rock turned in three monster performances at The Meadows over 525m in May and on each occasion she showed that she was crying out for the 600m journey. Dundee Toro is the only other winning hope, he is drawn to be prominent early and he is always competitive in this company.

Race 3 – 715M Grade 5 Final – 7:44PM
I think the promising Beks can salute at nice odds in a very tough race. He doesn’t possess a great deal of early speed but he will run all day and last week in his heat he really caught the eye when charging home from last. In this event there are a couple of chasers who don’t really run out the trip and I think they can cause some bother up front in the initial stages. There is no doubt mid race you will probably want to throw away your ticket as he will be a long way back, but he will get home at a rate of knots and I think he is great each way value.
Kim Keeping appreciated the big class drop in her heat and after a steady beginning she showed great mid race dash and scored a commanding 42.31 heat win. She beat Beks in her heat but I don’t think she will get to the lead as cheaply tonight and he can turn the tables on her. Zipping Rory was a tad disappointing in his heat but I think he can find the early lead this week and he may give a nice sight. He is likely to be under the odds and I don’t believe he is a true stayer but he should establish a nice break mid race and he may just steal the prize.

Race 4 – 515M Restricted Win Final – 8:08PM
I know I potted him last week and questioned his true commitment in his races but Lunar Tom really looks hard to beat on his heat effort. After a clean getaway he showed a great turn of foot and he continued to power to the line before stopping the clock in a slick 29.57. One run doesn’t assure me that he is truly focused on racing but I think if he can find the early lead again he should go back to back. There isn’t a great deal of pace drawn outside so he should be given every chance to drive to the early lead.
Lady Toy unleashed a powerful finish when placed in her heat and if Lunar Tom decides to go back to his old habits and plays around in the lead, the race may just fall into her lap. Her 5.40 first section is ridiculously slow but she is a great place bet and it might be worth anchoring her for second and third in the exotics. Dynamic Punch has been slow to begin of late but from the red draw tonight he may be able to settle a little closer to the speed and he is a very fast animal when he is given room to accelerate.

Oscura is a freakish talent and he is drawn to get every chance tonight. Two starts back he overcame a slow start to score a brilliant 29.52 win here and from the good draw he should be able to step a little better tonight and he will make his presence felt off the back straight. He can be a little costly to follow at times but this really looks his race.
Crawf’s Bread is a very consistent speedster and he has a top record over this trip. He is normally very reliable early and I would expect him to have sufficient speed to cross early, if that’s the case he will prove very hard to gun down. Mystic Twist appears to be the other winning hope, last week she really caught the eye when scoring here in 29.63 and tonight she exits from the same draw. This race is a bit of a class rise but last week’s effort suggested to me that she is ready for the next step.
Top Four: 1 – 7 – 3 – 4

Race 6 – 515M Grade 4 – 8:52PM
The exciting Crackerjack Dak is aiming for a hat-trick of metro wins and it appears that he is perfectly placed to achieve it. In his latest effort he took care of a high class line up and he managed to do it in style. On that occasion he went a quick 5.05 to the first marker and he still had enough in the tank to stop the clock in a slick 29.43. A repeat of that effort would see him lead throughout in tonight’s event.
Phenomenal is obviously the fastest chaser in the race but he has drawn poorly out in box seven and he will need to do everything right. The main danger appears to be Nockabout Aussie. After a brilliant 25.21 Ballarat win he turned in two enormous performances when placed over this track and trip. Tonight he has his favourite draw and with an ounce of luck early he will give Crackerjack Dak a run for his money. Zipping Brock appears to be the only other winning hope, his form in recent times doesn’t look too flashy but he can reel off slick sectionals when on the bunny.
Top Four: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7
Win bet on Crackerjack Dak
Trifecta: 1,2/1,2/Field ($12 for 100%)
Race 7 – 595M Mixed 4/5 – 9:11PM
Billy Higgs has been very disappointing in his past two appearances but tonight he should get every chance to show his best from his gun draw. Three starts ago he pinged the lids and reeled off blistering sectionals before scoring here in 34 seconds flat. On that occasion he beat the in form Know Class, so if he can step on terms tonight he should drive through at the first bend and lead throughout.
Ozzy Bale appears to be the obvious danger. He is stepping back up to a more favourable distance and has won here previously in a more than handy 34.27. Tonight he has the luxury of a slow beginner drawn underneath and that should allow him to gain a clear run to the first turn. Unix Bale has been racing in consistent form of late and she was far from disgraced when finishing fourth here last week. Cosmic Wise is going to be well supported again, but she doesn’t appear to be drawn well tonight and will be under the odds.

Race 8 – 515M Free For All – 9:35PM
Mepunga Armagh has been pinging the lids in recent weeks and tonight he finds himself in a race which lacks genuine early speed. Last week he reeled off a 5.01 to the first peg before copping a knock. He should be able to get a cheap lead in this event and his opposition will find hard to gun him down when he is running sub 29.40 on the bunny.
Cornelius Fudge is the run on dog in the event and has a great record over this trip. He is likely to give them a big start, but he has an uncanny knack of being able to weave his way through the field with ease. I don’t think he can win the event but he has great place prospects. Speed Series has the coveted red draw and if he can show the pace he displayed at Warragul last time he should be in contention for most of the trip. Musquin Bale has been a little costly of late but he has also drawn well and he is too good to dismiss totally.
Top Four: 4 – 7 – 1 – 8
Win bet on Mepunga Armagh

Race 9 – 715M Mixed 4/5 – 9:55PM
Heaps Of Ability has been a tad disappointing in his past two starts but from the red draw tonight I think he can settle much closer to the early speed and that’s where he does his best racing. He has won here previously in a scorching 41.69 and a repeat of that effort would see him win quite convincingly.
Zipping Joe followed up his recent win here with a strong Warragul win over 680m last week. On that occasion he was posted wide for most of the trip but he still managed to hit the line strongly and draw away in the final stages. If he can gain a clear run in the first 50m he should be in the finish again. Born Ali appears to be the only other chance in the event. She has broken the 42 second barrier here and she has been racing in very strong company of late.
Top Four: 1 – 6 – 7 – 4
Win bet on Heaps Of Ability
Trifecta: 1/4,6,7/4,6,7 ($6 for 100%)
Race 10 – 515M Grade 5 – 10:12PM
Gun Queenslander Battistuzzi has recently joined the powerful Thompson kennel and I’m sure he will be ready to fire in his Victorian debut. His latest form isn’t great but in recent times he has been missing the kick and finding trouble soon after box rise. He has been freshened up and he should be able to show better box manners tonight.
My Boy Snoop has an enormous engine but the only knock on him is that he can bomb the start at times. Three starts ago he recorded a blistering 26.11 Bulli win from this draw and he might be able to anticipate the start a little better from the red alley. Duchess Bale is racing in career best form and she has sizzled early in her two recent Meadows wins. The only query with her is that she is yet to win here in four tries.
Top Four: 5 – 1 – 3 – 7
Win bet on Battistuzzi
Trifecta: 1,5/1,5/Field ($12 for 100%)
Race 11 – 515M Grade 5 – 10:32PM
Grand Faith has been racing in a rare vein of form recently and if he can reproduce the performance which saw him win here in a slick 29.49 last start he will prove very hard to hold out. Last week he pinged the lids and recorded a slick 5.07 to the first mark. In this event only Cette Away has enough speed to match that and I still think Grand Faith would be able to burn her off as they head into the back straight.
Saahd has been in consistent form of late and he appears suitably drawn out wide. Two starts ago he was placed behind the in form Duchess Bale and on that occasion he showed great mid race dash. With slow beginners either side tonight he should get a clear run early and be in the mix for most of the trip. Cette Away has the gun draw and she recently led all the way at Cranbourne in a smart 30.21. If she can get away cleanly she should be thereabouts but you will be taking unders. Dynamo’s Gift has been a bit of a money muncher of late but he is very fast when he puts it all together.
Top Four: 3 – 7 – 2 – 1
Trifecta: 3/1,2,7,8/1,2,7,8 ($12 for 100%)
Exacta: 3,7/1,2,3,7 ($6 for 100%)

Race 12 – 515M Grade 5 – 10:52PM
Really tough race to finish the night but I think we can find some value with the out of form Great Spartacus. In recent times he been a little tentative to begin and he has failed to show his true turn of foot. Tonight he has a fair beginner who likes to run wide drawn directly outside of him, so with an even getaway he should get every chance to fire through at the first bend. There are quite a few talented speedsters in this event so you should be able to land $8.00 or better.
Dyna Evy looms as a likely danger, after a couple of luckless efforts she managed to regain some confidence with an all the way win at Cranbourne recently in a speedy 30.26. She has won four of 13 here and now with her confidence restored she should run a mighty race. Strange Wish is another who tends to race well here and is back in form, he must considered a winning chance if he can step on terms. Big Zap returns from a successful SA campaign and he has joined the strong Thompson kennel. He is obviously going to be well supported but I think he is worth taking on tonight.
Top Four: 4 – 2 – 3 – 6
