The Meadows greyhound tips & betting preview January 17 2015

WHILE most eyes will be on Wentworth Park tonight, there are still some quality greyhounds in action at The Meadows.

With many greyhounds returning after luckless campaigns in feature races series', there should be plenty of value around.

8CAMBRIDGE PRINCE -10m [5]21542NBTA Langton (Anakie)

Wide open affair to kick off the night and I think Allen Gundam can run a big race off the front mark. Two starts back he turned in a solid performance when placed over this journey and this race appears to be a little easier class wise. There is no speed drawn underneath his so with an even getaway he should be able to settle in the top three early and he will be strong in the run to the line.

Evie Jane is well drawn out wide and she tends to race well here, two starts back she pinged to the early lead and demolished her rivals when scoring in 42.72, if she can repeat that effort she will take a power of beating.

Cambridge Prince is improving with every run over the staying journey and he will be hitting the line strongly.

Luna Jinx and Shall She Rock have the class edge but both will be giving the rest of the field a head start.

7GROOVE GIRL [5]62615NBTL Delbridge (Balliang)
8AXIS BALE (NSW)[5]54635NBTJ Hunt (Lara)

Axis Bale is much better than his recent form reads and from the favourable draw he should be able to return to the winners list. If you go back through his form, he has a sizzling 29.31 Sandown win to his credit and he does possess a wonderful turn of foot soon after box rise. This is the easiest race he has contested for a while and he should figure in the finish.

Ima Screw Loose has the speed to lead and he gave a great sight when placed behind Polly Bale here last week, if he can ping and find the lead again he should prove hard to reel in.

Galahad is well drawn nearer the inside and he has a great record over this journey, if he is given room to muster early he can make a big impact.

Skinny Vinnie is another who is better than his form reads, he should settle near the pace and he could be the value in the event.

7PRETTY BALE (NSW)[5]6822430.47(6)S Collins (Lara)
8PLAY A KAZOO [5]77125FSHM Mallia-magri (Avalon)

Bogner Bale has won six of 17 over this journey and he has been racing well in strong company of late. If he can begin well from box two he should have the speed to hold them out and if he can reproduce his 30.01 PB run he will prove hard to hold out.

Kid Maximus is suitably drawn and like Bogner Bale he should appreciate the drop in class, he has been racing in solid form at recently and he looks better suited to this journey.

Play A Kazoo is probably the most talented of any chaser in the field but he can be very hard to follow at times. Three starts ago he posted a sizzling 19.25 Healesville win and if he can find the early he should be able to set up a nice lead mid race.

Me And Mase is the interesting runner, he has done very little in his five Victorian runs but prior to coming across from WA he did boast a record of 13 wins from 24 tries.

7MEPUNGA HAYLEY [4]2531534.36(1)J Britton (Anakie)
8WAYMORE'S BLUES [4]5111234.65(5)K Bravo (Lovely Banks)

Deadly Boy has the great draw and with three wins from five tries over this trip, it's hard to tip against him. Last time out he was narrowly beaten in a heat of the Cup by Space Star and he followed that effort up with a sizzling 25.15 Ballarat trial win. I know he lost his focus at Sale last time but from the red tonight he should lead easily and he will be running some serious time.

Mepunga Hayley is racing below her best at the moment but she should be suited by the smaller field. Two starts back she speared to the lead and scored over the 725m journey and although the time was competitive she appears to have lost her mid race zip.

Rumero Reason is a strong type and he should get a nice sit behind Deadly Boy for most of the trip. He has a good record here and he beat a handy lineup in his 34.61 win here three runs back

8CRACKERJACK ROSE [5]4417330.14(2)A Dailly (Anakie)

Ima Fairytale is absolutely flying at present and with slow beginners drawn on her outside she should get every chance to lead throughout. Two starts back she scored a powerful 29.56 Sandown Park win and she followed that effort up with a great placing behind the in form Sisco Rage. She has been placed in three of four here and she looks suited in this company.

Crackerjack Rose has a top record here and she was a tad unlucky here last week. After pinging to the early lead she copped a knock mid race and lost , if she can begin like she did last week she should give them something to catch.

Reiko Bale is quite strong and she is drawn to get all the breaks. In December she beat a handy sprinter here in 30.26 and a similar effort here will see her put some pressure on the more fancied runners.

10SKIP'S NIGHTMARE (NSW)[5]Res.2848230.35(4)H Collins (Lara)

Tough race with a number of chances but I think the exciting Marungi Choice has the speed to get across and set the pace. Last week he was a tad slow to begin but he showed explosive speed soon after box rise before scoring in 30.18. That was his first look at the track last week so I would expect him to improve on his winning time.

Humming Birdhill was the most impressive heat winner, she overcome a lot of difficulties early in the race before scoring in 30.10, she is normally a much better beginner than that and if she can avoid early bother she will figure in the finish.

Adam Handler has the good draw and he does his best racing here, he must lead to win but with an even getaway he should have sufficient speed to settle in the top two.

Connor's Rocket could be the value in the event, he gets to the line strongly and he turned in an eye catching performance in his heat.

8ULLA ALLEN (NSW)[5]6351730.23(4)S Collins (Lara)

Secret Spell is unbeaten over this trip and she is a winner of eight of 11 overall. Tonight she finds herself in a very weak event and if she can repeat her 29.26 winning effort from Sandown in November she should make light work of this lineup.

Punk Pirate is an all star provincial sprinter and he has won here over this trip previously, the box draw is a big concern for him tonight but he does possess wonderful speed after box rise and he should be able to put himself into contention.

Ulla Allen is the run on type in the event and she recently caught the eye when winning at Cranbourne in an impressive 30.30. She will need some luck at the first bend but if she gets it she will give the favourite a scare as they turn for home.

Wealthy Schooner is well placed in the red draw and although he is rising considerably in class he should be able to sneak into some minor money.

10DELI ALLEN (NSW)[4]Res.6254630.24(7)S Collins (Lara)

Avondale Porche is in rare form at present and she held off a great lineup when capturing the Two Final. The box draw doesn't help tonight but she is an explosive beginner and with a clean getaway she should be able to find the first marker a length or two clear. She has won here previously in 30.13 but she has improved a fair bit since then and a sub 29.90 run is on the cards.

Duomo Bale turned in a super performance when placed here two runs back and a repeat of that effort will see him figure prominently, he doesn't possess great early speed but he has great track sense and he will be strong in the run to the line.

Quantum Bale has been racing well here of late and it took the classy Marcus Joe a long time to reel him in last week, if he can hold out the favourite early he becomes a genuine winning prospect.

7COOL FOR SCHOOL [5]55764FSHS Taylor (Keilor East)
8BRONCO DE JURER [5]43533NBTP Bartlett (Bamawm)

Earl Bale is ideally placed in the red draw and he should have the speed to make every post a winner. He isn't overly strong but he has won two of four here and two runs back he led for a long way when placed behind the highly talented Clash Of Kings. Tonight's race is a big drop in class and this really looks his race.

Crusade Marjen is a super talent but he is extremely hard to follow. He is very hit or miss at box rise but he has proven in his career to date that he can run some serious time when he lands on the lure.

Allen Icarus has been placed in 12 of 19 here and he has the speed to settle in the top two or three early.

Jack Silver rounds out the chances, he is better suited to the provincial circuit but there isn't much speed drawn around him and he should get a clear run in the early stages.

Her Highness returns after having no luck in the final and she should find this race more to her liking. Two starts back she set the Devonport track alight with a dazzling 25.37 win and if she can put on a similar display of speed she should burn them off early and go on to score with ease.

Dyna Brainiac should match motors with or sit just behind Her Highness in the early stages and he should be there at the end. He has turned in some great performances of late and he appears to be getting stronger with every run.

Julie Bale is dropping back in distance and she will be steaming home at the end, I dont think she is a winning chance but she could be a great prospect to anchor for second and third in your exotics.

Fleetwood Jay must also be respected, he is better than his form reads and he should show improvement from the good draw.

Beckenbauer is normally an explosive beginner and he faces a significant drop in class. From the rails draw he should be able to push through in the first 50m and if he holds them out he should be able to set up a big lead mid race.

Mepunga Ledger is flying at present and if he can reproduce his sizzling 25.15 winning effort from two runs back he will prove hard to hold out, the only concern with him is that he can miss the kick at times and he will need some luck in the early stages.

Rocka Hula Baby has had little luck since her handy 29.54 Sandown Park win and she should run an improved race tonight.

Dyna Keitaro has a slick 30.11 Pb here and he rounds out the chances, he will need luck from the middle pin but he has good speed and he can run a nice race at odds.

We're Off Here has been racing in great style at Sandown Park of late and he appears better suited to this track. He will need some luck from the wide draw but most of his recent racing has been from wide draws and he has been able to handle himself quite well. He is normally an explosive beginner so I can see him leading throughout in this.

Got The Picture caught the eye with a strong 30.24 Cranbourne win last time and he is an improving type, with a clean getaway he should be able to sit just off the speed and he will be strong in the run home.

Dyna Fancy has the class edge and she returned to form with a zippy 29.61 Sandown Park win, she is obviously a great winning chance but I'm concerned that she may get burnt off mid race.

Radinka Bale is another chaser who likes to settle on the speed and she should follow We're Off Here across in the early stages, she isn't overly strong but she has a great record here and she is a must for your exotics.
