2014 Group Three Townsville Cup Goes To Farmor Las Vegas
Farmor Las Vegas (1) has taken out the 2014 Group Three Townsville Cup in a slick 28.59 for trainer Robert Britton.
Going to the boxes as the odds on favourite, the race panned out perfectly for the son of Knocka Norris and Farmor Cee You (Black Enforcer – Farmor Zippy) who didn't get away well but was able to push up along the rail into third placing down the back. As expected, Pace Ventura (4) showed his genuine early pace to take a clear lead with local hope Post Box (2) also prominent in second position. The race changed complexion dramatically on the swing for home as Post Box took a heavy tumble and collected Yogi Blue (3) in the process. This left just Pace Ventura and Farmor Las Vegas to battle it out for honours and the stronger dog prevailed by just over a length. Exhibitionist (6), who was last away at box rise, made good ground to finish third.
The Townsville Cup win was Farmor Las Vegas' 24th of his career. The 37kg black dog's earnings have now been pushed past $125,000.
