Another high profile Victorian greyhound trainer has returned a positive swab to the same substance that saw El Galo disqualified from the 2008 Group 1 Topgun.
Australian Racing Greyhound can reveal that the positive swab has been returned in a greyhound race which is about as far from Group 1 greyhound racing as you can get; a lowly 5th grade at Horsham.
No one from the Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Stewards department, or Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) would confirm the swab irregularity when contacted this morning by Australian Racing Greyhound; but it is believed that “B” sample testing is yet to confirm the “A” sample finding.
With Jason Thompson, Victoria’s highest profile greyhound trainer; already embroiled in his own positive swab finding regarding the same drug; Australian Racing Greyhound can reveal that Darren McDonald, who is arguably Victoria’s second highest profile greyhound trainer; is the trainer that is now currently in trouble with a swab irregularity to the same drug.
GRV Stewards have attended upon McDonald’s Devon Meadows property this morning (Monday 23rd February 2009) at this stage though, the purpose of their visit remains unclear.
Australian Racing Greyhound is working hard behind the scenes to bring you the full story and we’ll be updating these newest revelations as the news comes to hand.
