Australian Greyhound Racing 2011/2012 Group Calendar Released
The 2011/2012 Australian Greyhound Racing Association's Group Racing Calendar was released this week.
A total of 100 feature events have been granted Group Status, broken down as 27 Group 1, 34 Group 2 and 39 Group 3 events.
AGRA has continued to refine the calendar so as to minimise the clashing of events of similar standard and conditions. In addition, the prizemoney criteria for 2011-2012 has been adjusted with minimum prizemoney levels of $75,000 (Group 1), $40,000 (Group 2) and $25,000 Group 3 now applying.
The Group Racing Calendar is available at all AGRA Member Clubs and can be downloaded below. The specific section on Group events has been expanded this year to include more specific information such as grading and field composition principles.
AGRA Executive Officer, Brenton Scott, said he believed the 2011/2012 Calendar would be well received by greyhound racing participants from a number of perspectives.
“Firstly, the prizemoney is quite staggering, a total of $6.9 million will be paid out just in Group Racing finals.
“Secondly, all organisations have worked in the national interest to develop a calendar that really does maximise the earning potential of our elite performers by minimizing clashes.
“And finally, the innovation of standardizing eligibility for the major age restricted classics continues to be a great success.
“The Age Restricted Classics in 2010/2011 attracted their best ever level of nomination support and AGRA expects even greater support in the coming year,” said Scott.
