Barcia Bale Awarded Australia’s Best Greyhound Race In May 2012

The AGRA's for April 2012 has been awarded to exciting young New South Wales sprinter Barcia Bale after his record breaking performance at on April 5th. Most unlucky to miss the award last month after a track record breaking effort on debut at Bulli, he missed out to the mighty . 55

We flagged it might not be long before he was again a candidate for the award and indeed that statement was on the money. He stepped out at Maitland on April 5 and from box one quickly got to the front and although running off the track coming around the home turn he straighten up while using the middle track racing home to win easily in 24.90. Unfortunately the young star was hurt in the run and has not raced since. He badly bruised a toe and trainer has given his youngster plenty of time to recover.

He is back in full work and trialling brilliantly in readiness for his major assignment the Peter Mosman Classic held at in June on the 2nd, 9th and 16th. Prior to making his debut at headquarters he will race at Bulli commencing Monday 14th of May. Considering his age and inexperience he may well be the fastest dog every produced from the Wheeler factory of stars. Following his extraordinary run at Bulli in March where he lowered the record on debut he went close again at his first start at Maitland when he won in 25.11. However it was only a short wait, a week when he looked unbeatable from the red.

2 Recording blistering sections of 7.71 and 18.17 he ran home in 6.73 to lower the record set at 24.92 by Accounts in April 2009. If we reflect on the many outstanding sprinters that have raced at Maitland in that last three year period the run stamps this fellow at a potential superstar, the sort chaser that has an x-factor to bring people on course.

Named after American Moto Cross champion Justin Barcia, Barcia Bale is a black dog whelped March 2010 by Go Wild Teddy from Princess Bale ( x Gold Rush Bale). He is raced by and trained by his son Brendan Wheeler at the Oaks in New South Wales. Barcia Bale has won his only three starts and his stake earnings stand at $3,350.

As usual there were some outstanding runs recorded in April but a three year old record lower at only his third start got the nod for Barcia Bale to win the monthly award.

AGRA congratulates the owners Paul Wheeler plus trainer Brendan Wheeler after being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for April 2012. He joins the January winner Heston Bale, February winner and March winner Miata as the AGRA runs of the month for 2012.
