Jason Mackay An Imposing Nationals Presence

The ‘ King' Jason Mackay is one step away from an historic fourth Championship. It could be easily over looked but Jason Mackay has never been beaten in a National Championship Final.

Mackay has a record second to none at The Nationals, winning three successive titles – in the 2004 Final in Perth, 's 2005 record breaking performance in the National Distance Championship Final on his home track, and his breakthrough sprint victory, a win in the Tasmanian hosted 2006 Championship series with Immortal Love.

Mackay lines up the rising star, in Saturday night's National Sprint Championship Final at Wentworth Park.

“He's a good pup, he's just doing everything asked of him at this stage,” said a delighted Mackay.

“It was a massive step up in grade tonight, but he's right up to them, don't' worry.”

As well as a rise in class, Snozz had to overcome the outside box in the final of the NSW series, which earned high praise from Mackay.

“He's the full package. He's young, but he's on the rise,” Mackay said.

In Saturday night's $50,000 to the winner decider, Snozz will exit from trap number two.

“He prefers the inside, so that's perfect.”

The likeable Mackay is one of the real characters of the sport, and another Nationals win will further enhance his reputation as one of the countries best mentors.

A rejuvenated Wentworth Park will host the Grand Finals of the Rapidvite National Sprint and Distance Championships on Saturday night. In addition to more than $100,000 in prizemoney on offer and the great racing, the NSW GBOTA have also thrown open the gates with free admission for everybody. The first race will start 7.27pm.
