AGRA‟s Run of the Month for October 2009 has been awarded to outstanding all distance star Queen Lauryn. The Queenslander ran the hands of the clock recording a scintillating 29.42 in her heat of the Sapphire Crown Classic at Sandown on October 28.

Stepping out after a brilliant win in the Group 2 Schweppes All Stars at Cannington the previous Saturday night „The Queen‟ began well from box 3, leading through the first turn before showing stunning mid-race pace to put a gap on the rest of the field. All eyes turned to the clock as she raced away from her rivals before stopping the clock in a stunning 29.42 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded by a bitch.

Her 7.25 length win was the fourth fastest time ever run at the Lightwood Road circuit and was a stunning six-length improvement on her 2008 Crown Classic winning time.

Queen Lauryn defends her title on Thursday night from box five setting up a show down with the bitch of the moment Cindeen Shelby. The back to back group one winner will have her work cut out defeating Queen Lauryn if the “Queen” can reproduce her 29.42 run of last week.

It is going to be a very thrilling race this Thursday night, next for Queen Lauryn is a certain start in the Shoot-Out on November 13 a race also targeted by Tony Brett. Following the Shoot-Out Queen Lauryn‟s next mission maybe a possible start in the heats of the Melbourne Cup on November 19.

AGRA congratulates owners Steve Hawkins and his family, trainer Tony Brett and Queen Lauryn on being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for October 2009.
