Surf Lorian Service Added To Laurels Incentives

Sandown Greyhound ClubThe $72,500 Hawkins Laurels will carry an extra incentive in 2008, with a free service to leading sire Surf Lorian on offer to the winner.

Standing with leading studmaster Tony Apap and his A-Team, Surf Lorian is the sire of 2007 Laurels winner Miss Hot Gossip, as well as Group 1 winners Slater and . He also sired Group race winners , Technoman and and currently stands for $3300.

Hawkins Media Solutions has been in operation since 2005, and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Steve and Kate Hawkins. Hawkins Media Solutions is a no frills, small media business specialising in personalised service.

has been in radio since 1987 where he started out as night time announcer at Radio 2MO Gunnedah. He has worked in a number of radio stations over the years and is today based at Radio TAB in Brisbane.

Steve is also the proud owner of glamour bitch Queen Lauryn, who sensationally won the Group 2 Queensland Futurity in March. Though she does not qualify for the Laurels series, Steve has flagged the possibility of racing his star on Laurels night in preparation for the rich later in the year.

The Group 1 Hawkins Media Laurels is Australia's richest race for age-restricted bitches, offering $50,000 to the winner. First run in 1964, the Laurels boasts some of Australia's greatest race bitches on its Honour Roll, including Sandi's Me Mum, Cheltenham Lass and .

Sandown is again offering a $10,000 to any bitch that completes Group 1 Laurels – Group 1 double in the same calendar year, last won by Paua To Burn in 2004.

The Laurels is open to bitches whelped on of after 1 March 2006. The heats will be run on Thursday 12 June, with the Semi Finals on Thursday 19 June before the Final on Thursday 26 June.
