Winsome Prince Salutes In Group Three Dapto Maiden Final

Cranebrook trainer Melinda Finn was ecstatic on Thursday night after her charge Winsome Prince, scored a brilliant win in the Three Dean Industrial Maiden Final and collected $25,000 for her efforts.

Winsome Prince started at $4.80 from box six, with 's Whittaker made the $3.50 favourite by punters, exiting from box eight. After a rough start, Debbie's Prince crossed from box seven to at the first turn, with Winsome Prince sitting second heading into the back straight. Approaching the home turn, the son of and Winsome Shiraz accelerated away to score by four and a quarter lengths over the fast-finishing Zipping Saxton and Debbie's Prince held on for third.

“I was very worried about the box draw, but he did all the right things staying out wide and avoiding trouble at the first turn”, Finn said.

“He was the only pup in the litter and I thought this is an expensive dog, but he has definitely paid his way now.”

The 35kg heavyweight now has a perfect career record of three wins from three starts. After clocking 29.77 to blow his rivals away in the heats, he produced a gusty performance in his semi-final, coming from behind in 30.13.

“I'm looking at taking him to now to see how he goes there.”
