Group One Vic Peters Classic Betting Preview

Tonight's Group One Sportingbet Vic Peters Classic final at is not the field most enthusiasts expected, as there were plenty of upsets during last weekend's semi finals over the 520m distance.

The box draw will again play its part tonight in proceedings with short priced favourites; Royal Sprite and Whata Good Size exiting from boxes one and eight respectively.

This epic encounter will be run and won at 9.47pm EDST, with successful to receive a juicy $75,000 for their efforts.

Box One – Royal Sprite ($3.50) ( x Elizabeth Royal) – Jane Carruthers:

Began well last week from box two and was hampered at the first turn. Flew home to run second behind Belfast Johnny in a flying 29.64. Is a deserving favourite from the pole position and will be very competitive if he gets a clear run.

Box Two – Belfast Johnny ($4.20) ( x Wongawillisue) – Troy Vella:

Was brilliant last week from box five after beginning well and sitting second behind the earlier leader, before streaking away to win by 6.25 lengths in a sizzling 29.67. Much better draw tonight and will be charging home once again.

Box Three – Folk Tails ($51.00) (Hurricane Luke x Cin Cin Shiraz) – Carly Absalom:

Was the rank outsider in her heat last week and began slow and got some luck at the first turn to sit 4th down the back straight. Ran home well to snatch second place, however is surrounded by class runners and will need to lift significantly.

Box Four – Frosty Vintage ($16.00) ( x Frosty Fruits) – :

Regally bred chaser who upset a strong field from box six last week, leading all the way in a solid 29.90 performance. Surprisingly faded a bit in the home straight so will need to lift here as there will be plenty breathing down her neck.

Box Five – Avondale Porche ($4.40) ( x Micro Lee) – Beau Hedley:

Went into last week searching for her 10th consecutive win, however had to settle for second after missing the start and was squeezed out early. Used a rails run to perfection to sit second before storming home only beaten 1.25 lengths in 29.90. Faces a huge challenge to overcome box five but certainly has the ability.

Box Six – Soviet Missile ($21.00) (Where's Pedro x Jacinta Bale) – Toby Weekes:

Began solidly from the tricky box five last week and showed good speed on the home turn to finish 4 lengths second behind Evil Punk in a fast 29.70. Has drawn poorly again and will need some luck this week in a much harder field.

Box Seven – Evil Punk ($14.00) ( x Punk Angel) – :

Was super impressive last week after beginning well and charged home at the finish to clock a speedy 29.70, with an excellent run home time of 11.74. Does face a tough test getting across from this wide draw but definitely has the ability to claim this.

Box Eight – Whata Good Size ($3.20) (Fear Zafonic x Surf Queen) – :

It wouldn't be a group one final without the impact of champion trainer Jason Thompson and that's exactly what transpired last week as his charged stepped beautifully from box six and was never headed in a fast 29.82 performance. Drawn suitably out wide to get a clear run and a genuine contender to salute at the finish.
