Neville Vincent Gets Fine Only For Procaine & Flunixin Positive

Victorian GRV Stewards have recentyl finalised an inquiry in to another procaine positive swab in a greyhound, making it the third procaine positive swab in just a few months in Victoria alone.

This time, the greyhound Oodles Valentino, tested positive to both Procaine and Flunixin, and yet the greyhound trainer involved, Neville Vincent; escaped with just a $500 fine.

Vctorian GRV Stewards on the 10th March, 2009 conducted an Inquiry into the circumstances pertaining to the post-race urine sample taken from the greyhound Oodles Valentino at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club meeting held on 17th December, 2008 indicating the presence of the drugs Procaine and Flunixin.

In the race in question Oodles Valentino was a 25.73 winner by a half length leading all the way at only his second start. In 5 subsequent starts, all at Ballarat, Oodles Valentino has been unable to win a race.

At the GRV Stewards Inquiry, Stewards heard evidence from licensed Trainer – Mr. Neville Vincent, Dr. John Vine (RASL), and Dr. Alistair Smith (Veterinary Surgeon).

After hearing the evidence, Stewards charged Mr. Neville Vincent with breach of GAR 83(2)(3) in that as Owner & Trainer, presented the greyhound Oodles Valentino for the purpose of competing in an Event, which was found to be the recipient of the drugs Procaine and Flunixin.

Mr. Neville Vincent pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Stewards found Mr. Neville Vincent guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $500.

Stewards also disqualified Oodles Valentino from its maiden win in Event 4 at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club meeting on 17th December 2008.
