$80,000 Grant Secured For Gosford Greyhound Track

Greyhound Racing Club has attracted an $80,000 State Government grant towards the $500,000 cost of extending its viewing area and function room.

The extended enclosed spectator area with panoramic glassed windows overlooking the track will greatly add to the comfort of patrons, local director said.

NSW Racing Minister inspected plans of the new project in company with Member for Gosford and chairman of the NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers' Association (GBOTA) at the track.

Ms Andrews said the upgraded facilities at the Gosford track would increase patronage and participation in greyhound racing.

“This $80,000 grant comes from the $2 million Racing Club Facility Grants Program to help regional and rural race clubs develop their facilities,” Mr Greene said.

Ms Andrews said the improved amenities at the track would be an investment in the community's sporting entertainment.

The upgraded interior of the viewing area would also benefit the 40 or more community groups and clubs which use the club's amenities annually.

Sports clubs often hold fund-raising functions at the greyhound meetings and, as well, the track is also used for speedway, go-karts, the Gosford Show, Convoy for Kids, monster trucks and music festivals.
