Four heats of the Laura Dance Memorial over 515m were staged at Gosford last Tuesday night and some very good performances were handed in by some promising young greyhounds.
The Darren Sultana trained Arthur Ritis set the time standard for the night with a 9¼ lens victory in 30.17. By Collision ex Osti’s Delight and owned by Gordon Sciberras, Arthur Ritis has now three wins and three minors from just seven starts.
Late Night trained at Llandilo by Peter Lagogiane made full use of box one in scoring a very determined win in 30.63 in another of the heats.
Seven Dudes booked a spot in the Final with a strong 5½ lens win in 30.47, whilst Lauries Star finally enjoyed some luck in running to win by 4¼ lens in 30.50. Next week’s Final should be a good spectacle.
Pickle Mickle made it back to back Gosford wins, when he scored by 9½ lens over the 600m trip in 35.43. Staying certainly looks to be his forte, and it will be interesting to see what he does when trainer Jason MacKay decides to put him over the journey.
The Noelene Walsh trained Black Warhorse atoned for an unlucky second last week by scoring a best of the night 23.25 victory. This dog has now won 22 races with 13 minors from 48 starts.
Other good wins on the night were produced by Bee Fifty two who scored by 3¼ lens in 23.58 and Catch The Flag who atoned for a second placing last week when he won the last for trainer Frank Cini.
