Black Rugs Dominate The Casino Greyhounds Card

The number seven is a lucky number for many, and it certainly proved lucky last when more than half of the program was won by greyhounds wearing the seven rug.

Leading the onslaught was the trained Cool Chereve who kicked clear down the back after getting the best of an early tussle with Alma's Boy. She was a well supported runner at her last start at , and atoned for that defeat by scoring by 1 1/2 lengths in 23.62.

Flying Argument was next runner to salute with the black rug when he flew around a packing field at the first turn to grab a commanding lead. Going right on with the job he raced away to win by 3 1/4 lengths in 23.45 for and George Bennett.

then landed his double when Peg Rose Hi and Sam Rose Hi both greeted the judge in front. Peg got home on a “blanket go” when she put her neck through near the line to get the “pat”. She clocked 27.75 for the 484 metres. Sam was never headed when he grabbed the lead at the first bend to run 27.87 in a three length victory.

Miss Jodito made it two wins on the trot when she won the South Butchery stake. Similar to her last victory, she zoomed home late to grab the prize by 2 1/2 lengths in 35.84. It was one of three winners for Toni and who also won with the very consistent Kingsbrae Sam, a litter sister to Miss Jodito, and Pretty Norris. To put the icing on the cake, Pretty Norris was the trainers jackpot dog, and another handy sum jumped into the purse.

The unusually named Wah Wah Face opened up her winning account when she ran a speedy 23.11 for , and Dayseas Hodgie snuck through along the fence to take out the June Waldron Birthday stake for Glen and Jake Northfield. He ran 28.12 in winning by 2 1/4 lengths.

Finishing off the day was Cool Five, another winner from box seven. He was an all of the way winner in 23.06, the best time of the day, John Pay is his trainer.

Casino races again this Friday afternoon.
