Bravo’s fabulous five set to feature in Peter Mosman heats

THE powerful Victorian kennel of Brett and looks certain to play a strong hand in the heats of the Peter Mosman Classic (520m) at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, with five contenders across the 10 qualifiers.

Leading the charge for the Lovely Banks based training duo is group 1 winner Unlawful Entry which will start from box five in the seventh heat of the night (9:57pm). The brindle dog will be making his debut over the track and trip but is proven at the top level, having already won the Group 1 Thousand and the .

Kelly Bravo said if the son of Knocka Norris and She Ain't Late can time the start right, the squeeze box won't be a concern.

The last time Unlawful Entry, $21 with Bet365.com.au to win the Peter Mosman series, pinged the lids, he broke the Park with a mind-boggling 28.95 display.

“I don't think it matters what box he has – it is all up to him and how he begins,” Bravo told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“On his times he is probably the quickest dog in Australia but he is very hit and miss at the start.

“With the boxes being more closed in at the front at Wentworth Park if they want to see out they have got to get down…we are hoping that he will get down and come out a bit better.

“If the track was ok he would be capable of just about anything – he broke the track record at coming from back in the field.

“He has got a stupid amount of ability, but you never know what you are going to get with him.”

Team Bravo also give a strong chance to promising pup Ando's Mac which will start from box four in the first heat of the night.

Despite facing a classy field including fellow Victorian Snakebite Bale (box one) and talented local Tap Out Scarlet (box seven), Bravo says he is right in contention, coming into the heat as a 30.14 winner over the track and trip last start.

“He is probably our biggest chance because he generally begins well and he is a hard little chaser.

“He isn't well boxed but we are hopeful he can overcome the draw and find the front without too much trouble.

“The biggest question with him was whether he would run the trip right out but he had a look at Wenty and he had to work hard to find the lead…in the end he ran the distance out quite well and his run home time was pretty good.”

Another expected to improve if she can qualify for the semi-finals is Andrea Doria ($67) which will jump from box five in the fifth heat. The daughter of and Ritza Flare enters the series with just five starts from which she has recorded three wins and two seconds.

Bravo said she will continue to get better with more fitness following her last start 29.70 win at Sandown.

“She is a pretty reliable beginner.

“She won the Vic Breeders at Sandown and then had a bit of a break…we just couldn't get a start with her.

“For about two or three weeks we nominated her for in town just to make sure she'd get a run in the Mosman heats, but we ended up having to take her to Sandown on the Sunday.

“She probably went into that race a bit underdone – she really needed the good 500m hit out – so she will definitely be better for that run.”

Bravo's other two contenders, Sausage Sizzle ($101) and Cactus Jack ($101), are both blessed with a stack of ability, but will need luck from boxes seven and eight respectively.

Sausage Sizzle, a winner of six from 24, will contest the fourth heat of the night and showed what she is capable of five runs back at Warrnambool with a stunning 24.93 win, however the brindle bitch has failed to fire since then.

“She tends to race in waves,” Bravo said.

“She trialled as fast as any of the others this week, she would be a big chance if she could ping the lids but she has been a bit naughty lately at the start.

“She is probably better towards the fence, but her racing pattern recently has been to let them go early and drop back down to the fence.”

Meanwhile, Cactus Jack will jump in the sixth heat, taking on some class competitors including (box one), Ritza Lenny (box two) and Buck Forty (box five).

“He has got all the ability in the world, but his box manners aren't that great.

“He started to come good with his box manners but we had to give him a couple of weeks off and we ended up back at square one with him.

“With that being said he is a hard chasing dog and he is a very smart little guy – he seems to be able to read a race really well.

“He'll probably need a few runs to get back into 500m mode but if he can make it through the heats he can improve – he is a nice little dog.”

The Group 1 Peter Mosman heats are races two through to 11 at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, with race one set to jump at 7:28pm.
