Dapto Silver Collar Heats Preview

The Silver Collar is always a unique race on the Dapto racing calendar. First prize is $5,000 plus a beautiful collar for the winning greyhound. Recent winners of the race include Oh So Smooth, Undisputed Dos, More Space and Jai Alation. There's four heats of the race this Thursday night and the final will be conducted the following Thursday.

Dapto Silver Collar Heat One (Race 2 at 7:52pm)

Two greyhounds here look the main chances. Fancy Rhythm (Box 8) arrives at Dapto after a good showing in the Soldiers saddle series, where his early speed proved a real asset. He hasn't won from Box 8 but has the early toe to cross from out wide. Glama Pak (Box 1) loves the Dapto circuit having won five from eight at the track. The red fawn bitch by Where's Pedro ex. has flown around Dapto in 29.72 and has a great record from the box, winning two from three. The Kenneth Burnett chaser looks the one to beat. Of the others, Kakadu (Box 2) is capable of running time and won here back in early November in 30.15. Her wins are well spaced but she is always thereabouts for a place. Minza Red One (Box 6) is entering the twilight of his career but has managed to win two races at Dapto. His last win in a race was back in July at Wentworth Park so no doubt he will need some luck to finish on top here.

Dapto Silver Collar Heat Two (Race 5 at 8:55pm)

Encosta Deplente (Box 3) is much better boxed than in recent runs here at Dapto. He's had Box 7 his last two runs for two thirds. He has a best time at the track of 30.24 and has the early speed to lead and skip away with this. Ding's Chance's (Box 5) recent form has been ordinary but the ex. It's A Chance dog can fly around Dapto. He's had three starts at the track for two sub thirty wins, the fastest being 29.58. He can show early speed when he wants with a best first section of 5.36. It's a worry that he hasn't been beginning in recent runs around Wentworth Park and Bathurst, but the return to Dapto might bring the best back out of him. Pantone Green (Box 8) is another in with a chance. The Magic Sprite ex. Wind It Up dog has had seven starts at the track for four wins and three placings with a best time of 30.11. He is speedy early with a 5.27 best first section and his form is okay from wide boxes. The other runners lack the form and of the three mentioned and are place chances at best.

Dapto Silver Collar Heat Three (Race 7 at 9:38pm)

What For (Box 2) has been in great form recently, with wins at Wentworth Park and Dapto. The Cosmic Rumble ex. Makayla Reltub dog, trained by Jason Fletcher, has recorded 29.90 here at the track. He prefers to be drawn wide but does have some form from inside boxes. He isn't always best away from the boxes but musters speed. (Box 4) has three wins at the track with a best time of 29.82. The Bit Chili ex. Hannah Jane bitch is a consistent beginner and it wouldn't be a surprise to see her lead this field. Pleiades (Box 3) is coming off a win over 600 metres at and has won at Dapto in 30.07, but will need some luck in the early stages of the race. Wez My Honeymoon (Box 1) is a speedy dog that isn't overly strong in the closing stages of a race. He fell last start at Lithgow so it will be interesting to see how that has affected him. Tini Fluss (Box 5) is having her first run at Dapto but has won five from 12 career starts. Her wins have been around , and Wentworth Park. She has to handle the squeeze box here at Dapto to be any hope.

Dapto Silver Collar Heat Four (Race 8 at 9:58pm)

This looks to be the hardest heat to pick the winner with all the greyhounds drawn in this heat having form at Dapto. The most impressive form at the track rests with Ronray Flyer (Box 1). The superbly bred bitch by Where's Pedro ex. Cindeen Shelby has had six wins at the track from nine starts with a best time of 29.93. Her last win here came back in August and in three starts since then hasn't run a place at Dapto or Wentworth Park. She's had one win and two placings from four starts out of Box 1. Gaudi (Box 6) for Steve White is a last start winner at Wentworth Park and has won two from three here, with a fast 29.78 to his credit. He has been beginning consistently recently so should be up in the firing line early. Pablo Cruz (Box 7) possesses early speed and plenty of form. He's won five of his last seven starts and has won three races here at Dapto during his 27 start career, with a best time of 30.14. Charlm Warrior (Box 3) has been racing with success around Wentworth Park and Canberra. He hasn't been to Dapto for a while, but has recorded 30.11 here. He's drawn an inside box here and his form has been from outside boxes. Pearl Irene (Box 5) has 11 wins from 21 starts so obviously has a lot of talent. The Collision ex. bitch has three wins at Dapto with a best of 29.98. Her box manners have been hit and miss in recent races around Canberra, Richmond and Bathurst, but in her last two runs at Dapto back in May she led all the way.
Some well bred and well performed chasers are taking part in this series. The make-up of the final will be known Thursday night, with the top two from each heat making it through.
