Trainer Dwyer Lennon was pleased with the 30.09 solo trial recorded by Dashing Corsair at Wentworth Park last Saturday.
The winner of the Group 1 Schweppes National Sprint Championship final at Cannington the previous Saturday, Dashing Corsair’s next challenge is the NCA Paws Of Thunder, with heats of this best 80 Group 1 event over 520 metres to be run at Wentworth Park next Saturday September 19.
Lennon together with his wife Desley made the quick trip down from Queensland for the weekend to give Dashing Corsair his first look at the track in the solo trial after the first race.
“He was 1.6 kilos down in weight tonight but I am happy with his run – he went well considering it was his first visit here and all the travelling we have done lately. The weight drop does not overly concern me and I am confident we can have him spot on for next week,” Lennon explained.
“His start was not perfect and he ran home strongly. I was keen to see what Dyna Lachlan would do in race three and after seeing his winning time (29.93) and his sectionals, I was more than happy with my dog’s solo trial.
“Dashing Corsair pulled up well after the trial and we are looking forward to tackling the heats of next week’s feature,” Lennon concluded.
