Favourites Salute At Casino Greyhounds

Favourite punters would have left 's Queen Elizabeth Park last Friday with the cash jingling in their pockets, after well backed commodities won seven of the eleven races.

Fastest time of the day over the 484 metres went to the Brad Northfield trained Go Wild Me who ran 27.24. He jumped to perfection, and was an all of the way winner.

Former kennelmate did issue a challenge down the side of the track, but Go Wild Me proved too strong winning by 2 1/2 lengths.

broke the 520 metre on Tuesday, and he was again to the fore in taking out the Mc Donald's Pharmacy stake. He began well from box eight, and somehow squeezed between runners to take up the running as they went into the back. Although getting a little wide, he raced away from his opponents to win by 9 3/4 lengths in 27.34.

The John Mc Grory trained just loves the Casino circuit and he recorded his sixth win in a row in the Westlawn Finance stake. He went straight to the lead from box five and went on to score by ten lengths. He paid an amazing $2 on the TAB, showing you can still get value about a greyhound with such a fine record.

Great old campaigner Beaver Fever rounded off the favourite quadrella with a resounding win in the Casino RSM Club Flying. He got a rails run under going down the back and raced away to score by 5 3/4 lengths. To show the track was on “fire”, he ran a sizzling 22.94 for the 411 metres. His trainer Rob Andrews also had a winner later in the day with Unearthed. She ran 23.18 in the Ranvet stake.

also kept the clock ticking over when he ran 27.35 in the Charcoal Inn stake. The Dave King trained sprinter was another who led throughout, and he held his rivals at bay to salute by 5 1/2 lengths.

Two heats of the Blue Paws maiden series were run, with the fastest time being recorded by first starter . It was a handy effort, as she wasn't the best served at the start. She then knuckled down to the task and showed good pace to get to the front in the back section. She just ran away with the event from that point, winning by 10 1/2 lengths in 27.72. Earlier, the trained Another Larger ran 28.05. This bold strider led throughout to win by 5 3/4 lengths. Both winners have good credentials for this Friday's final.

Norway Miss atoned for a good second the previous Friday when she won the Casino Rural Traders stake in 23.30 for Shane Staples, and Lotto Dude who also ran second last week, won the 411 metre maiden for Greg Hancock. She ran 23.45 and got home by a head.

Elle Babe Cloud ran down the early pacmaker in the distance race. The Gavin Lowe trained stayer ran a handy 35.64 and scored by a length.

Casino will be racing again next Friday afternoon with the first race at 12.25.
