Greyhound racing in NSW to recommence this Wednesday

GREYHOUND () announced on Saturday morning that racing will recommence at TAB tracks across the state from Wednesday July 13, 2016.

The authority made the call to suspend racing on Thursday following the State Government's bombshell announcement to outlaw greyhound racing from July 1, 2017.

GRNSW reportedly made the move to allow consideration of the impacts from the 's decision, with GRNSW consulting with greyhound racing clubs and staff over the past few days.

As the controlling body and regulator of the sport, GRNSW have also announced that they will be implementing an enhanced swabbing program and will also increase the presence of and veterinary teams at all race tracks.

The only greyhound racing club to hold meetings between now and Wednesday is which was in the middle of it's July Winter Carnival when the news hit. GRNSW subsequently made arrangements to enable racing to recommence at the track from Monday July 11.

As a precaution, GRNSW have also instructed all tracks to increase their security measures for all upcoming race meetings.

The news to recommence racing comes just after the revelation that NSW Premier has gone on holidays as of , leaving an industry of over 13,000 to pick itself up after his devastating announcement on Thursday.

The industry only had 1000 a few days ago, now its 13,000 … still its not like a member of the greyhound racing industry to pluck numbers out of thin air.
