Irinka Luca Warms Up for Nationals

Irinka Luca continued his excellent lead up towards the with an outstanding win taking out the at on Monday evening.

Drawing Box 3, the son of Bathurst 520m holder Irinka Dennis x Sussudio started a slight $2.70 favourite just in front of the highly talented 2012 Futurity winner Midnight Capers ($2.80).

Beginning poorly and then overcoming a check from soon after the start Irinka Luca then balanced up and lobbed the fence in last position at the first turn, with winner Arena Flyer and Midnight Capers high balling in front it looked a race in two. However the trained greyhound showed just why he will be a force at Bulli in the coming weeks with an amazing burst of acceleration leaving both leaders standing still and opening up a two length break on his rivals.

1 winning bitch Midnight Capers stuck on gamely and pushed Irinka Luca all the way, but the 2012 Bathurst Cup winner was too strong scoring by half a length in a very slick 30.09 equalling his personal best time at Bathurst and recording his 5th win from 7 starts at Kennerson Park.

He will now take this blistering form into the NSW Nationals Series at Bulli, where the Smith Family will be hoping to have Irinka Luca firing on all cylinders as he takes on the best in NSW.
