Jack’s Joker Wins The 2013 Bathurst Soldiers Saddle

Jack's Joker (Box 1) has taken out the 2013 Soldiers Saddle in a zippy 29.86 for Clergate trainer .

Soviet Missile (Box 2) went to the boxes as favourite, but the market was switching between him and Jack's Joker in the lead up to the race. When the lids opened, Jack's Joker began perfectly and was first on the bunny and first into the turn. Soviet Missile bombed the start and then found a wall of dogs at the first turn.

Crackin Sort (Box 8) began well enough, but couldn't quite cross in front of Jack's Joker on the first turn. She struggled from that point, failing to feature in the finish. Fancy Rhythm (Box 3) negotiated a clear run into the back straight, landing in second and in pursuit of the leader. But his efforts were in vain and that's where he finished the race, 5 3/4 lengths behind Jack's Joker. Soviet Missile stormed home for third, two lengths behind Fancy Rhythm.

This race win was Jack's Jokers fifth win from 14 starts. The April 2011 whelping by ex. Lachlan's Gift has been the improver through the series and no doubt trainer David Pringle and owner Amy Pringle will be happy their charge has earned them the lucrative $10,000 prize.
