Jake Puts On A Real Show At Bathurst

Your Show Jake, a finalist in the recent Multiquip Magic Maiden at Wentworth Park, posted the fastest ever time by a maiden at Bathurst on Wednesday June 10, when he clocked a sizzling 29.97.

The Ashley Lamb trained youngster copped a slight check at the first turn before powering to the lead at the half way mark and won running away by four and a half lengths from a gallant Miracle Miss.

Punters didn’t miss the Your Show Jake, a February 2007 whelping by Bond X September Rain, sending him out at prohibitive $1.50 quote on the TAB on the strength of his previous impressive efforts at Wentworth Park and he looks to have a bright future especially when he steps up in distance.

Mind you the run of the second placegetter, Miracle Miss, was also a great effort, running around 30.26 and she should break through shortly.

Recent dual city winner Shiney put in his best Bathurst display with a slick 30.12 gallop for Blayney mentor Bill McKenna. Hesa Horse made the pace but proved no match for Shiney over the concluding stages as the son of Bond and Red River Valley raced away to scored by eight lengths with Tollmax a neck back in third.

Two heats of the Professionals Real Estate Stayers series were also decided with the Allan Harvey trained Eiffella Abby setting the time standard at 36.56 in the opening run-off accounting for All About Gina and Atlantic Charter in hollow fashion. In an even tussle throughout Ron Steel’s Assassain Journey proved too strong at the finish to down Hotel Splendido and the tiring Jemini Too in the remaining heat clocking 36.90.

Orange conditioner Greg Board took training honours with a winning double courtesy of maiden performers Spring Malawi and Spring Dreamer. Spring Malawi finished full of running to annex the True Destiny @ Stud Mixed Final by a comfortable six length margin over Delta Force in 26.26. Spring Dreamer atoned for a luckless last start defeat when she led throughout to post a nippy 26.14 victory later in the night.
