Jedd Lion’s Dapto Auction Classic

Jedd Lion ($6.10) has brilliantly taken out the 2009 Group 2 Country Winnebago Dapto Auction Classic last Thursday night.

Beginning well from box number three Jedd Lion took a prominent position behind the early leader On Parole($5.00) he railing superbly into second spot out of the first turn and was always going to be a chance from there At that point in the final there was a bit of a scrimmage and the $1.80 favourite Puddy Muddles was in trouble and looked out of play.

Still chasing hard Jedd Lion reached the leader On Parole at the home turn, he raced to the front as they turned for home and looked the winner, Teriv ($27.30) had been in third position from the start and was running on off the back, however he didn’t make any ground on the two leaders with Jedd Lion surging to the line in an impressive performance to score by a length and a quarter in the fast time of 29.85 a personal best at Dapto.

The gallant On Parole finished second holding out Teriv by a length and three quarters for third with the unlucky favourite Puddy Muddles making up a lot of ground to finish fourth.

Jedd Lion came into the final after an impressive heat win in 30.03 and a semi final win in 30.17, like in the final in his semi he worked into second spot and sprouted wings, eventually grabbing Kid Koonawarra near the line.

The final was his fourth Dapto win on end and Jedd Lion made it six wins from seven starts after October wins at Wentworth Park and Nowra.

He has always shown above ability for trainer Ray Webster since he started racing in February of this year as well as his purple patch of form at Dapto he has recorded wins over 535 and 618 at Richmond plus a win over the 530 metres at Canberra.

After the placed runners the field finished in the following order 4th Puddy Muddles ($1.80fav), 5th Key Suspect ($14.70), 6th Light Scotch ($19.00) 7th Kid Koonawarra ($23.50) and Valiant Journey ($15.30).

Jedd Lion is raced by L Urquhart, S Webster & J Rakst and is trained at Cawdor by Ray Webster. He is a Black dog whelped August 2007 by Bombastic Shiraz from Magic Grove (Light Of Fire x Thai Magic).
