Owen Langley Outed For 3 Months Over Positive Swab

New South Wales have just released details of a positive swab to in a greyhound trained by .

Pholcodine is an opiate based cough suppresant which is chemically related to . It commonly available in many over the counter cough syrups and has a mild sedatve effect.

On the 10th March 2009 GHRRA Stewards concluded an into the positive finding of Pholcodine in the urine sample taken from when it competed at on 19th January 2009.

On the night in question, Pop Rocker was a good 30.39 winner from box 1, practically leading all the way and ending a run of 10 track appearances without a win. Pop Rocker is yet to win again, from a further 5 starts.

Trainer Owen Langley was charged with a breach of Rule 83(2)(a) in that he failed to present Pop Rocker for racing, free of a prohibited substance to which he pleaded Guilty.

Stewards disqualified Owen Langley for a period of 3 months commencing 10 March 2009for his breach of Rule 83(2)(a).

Pop Rocker was disqualified from the event.

Owen Langley was advised of his rights of appeal.
