Racing Appeals Tribunal Refuses To Hear Mark Azzopardi’s Appeal

The has refused to hear an appeal lodged by trainer against a two year disqualification.

Racing Appeals Tribunal Ian McRae refused the appeal on the grounds that Mr lodged the appeal three days outside the time frame that is required under the Racing Appeals Tribunal Act 1983 and Racing Appeals Tribunal Regulation 2010.

Under the , Mr Azzopardi was required to lodge his appeal by no later than midnight on 27 September 2013, but did not do so until 30 September 2013.

Mr McRae determined that the Tribunal did not have jurisdiction to hear the appeal.

Greyhound Racing NSW disqualified Mr Azzopardi for two years after he was found guilty under GAR 83 (2) (a) following inquiries into the analysts of , a metabolite of , in the urine sample taken from Transcend Time at on 28 March 2013.
