started its Ray Gavenlock Memorial Meeting with 14 races in nice sunny weather.

Present were members of Ray's Football Clubs, family and friends and residents from Greenstone Lodge.

The first race saw a good start by all. All dogs were running together around the bend with Dynamite Ado going to the front to win for Trevor Cook in 18.08, My Oh My coming second and Grogan Boy third.

The second, the Tuskers Stakes saw local dog Britannia Boy lead all the way to win for Daryl Breust with first starter Gold Bonds running second and third was Secret Script in the time of 26.86.

Race 3 saw Trevor Cook make it a double with winning the Redback Stakes. He was too strong for Swanky Leisel who came second and Boy Puzzle who came third in 17.95.

The Union Stakes saw local dog Amberisation hit the front after a mix up on the bend to run away and win for Arthur Fahey from Park Intent who ran home second and Youtar Tiger running in for third with the time being 26.70.

The Blue Paws Maiden saw jump straight to the front and give nothing else a chance for Michael Harris in an excellent 17.93 with , second and Poppy's Kiss third.

Corona Kelly took out the Dragon Stakes for Brian Lord in a good 26.06 with Navaho Lane trying hard for second and third in was Typhoon Shoes.

Next was the final of the Ray Gavenlock Memorial where any could win. On the jump, you saw the two favourites miss the start and were in the middle of the field with Patty Cake and Set Up going to the lead from Cherry Osti and Kool Lee racing together around the bend with the others a short distance behind. In the run home, Set Up took the lead with Patty Cake tiring and Cherry Osti running into second with Kool Lee just behind and that is how they finished in an excellent time of 25.79. The winner is trained by Daniel Pearson.

The President spoke on behalf of the Gavenlock family and all those who knew Ray including members of all the Footy Clubs along with Councillor Mr Fred Meale for the local Shire Council. In reply, handler Brent Jones thanked the club and family of Ray and said that Daniel would be happy as he has been very ill over the last few weeks and has others doing his dogs so we hope he gets well soon.

Next was the Ray Gavenlock Blue Bird Sprint, sponsored by long time mates, Danny Pinney and Gavin Meacham. On the jump, jumped straight to the front and lead all the way for Donna Widdows from Vinopirozzi who was second and third was Out there Carter in a time of 17.90.

The All Sports Best 8 over the 570 was sponsored by the local Temora Shire Council where Ray worked. The Club thanks them for their generosity. In a great race, the favourite, Not Cheap, had punters worried for some time but into the home straight, was too good and won for . Second was Osti's Exposure and early leader, Barrylex was third in the time of 33.19.

The Council Social Club Stakes saw Swanky Pumpkin lead all the way to win for Donna Widdows which made it a double for her. Second was Tiggerlong Oliva and third in was Little Moment in 18.06.

Donna Widdows took out the Dragonettes Stakes with in 17.88 and was also the GBOTA dog running the best of the day. This made it three for the day. Second was Mouldy Cake and third was Mr Tunney.

Race 12, The Aromet Motel Stakes saw Cherryl Bradley's dog Perfect Patterns lead all the way to win in 26.52 with second and Reefton Bond third.

The Cornford's Hardware Stakes was taken out by Cherryl Bradley with Osti Lee Dream which made it a double for her. Maid of Life was second and third was in the time of 18.38.

The lucky last, Race 14 was the Nice Products 4/5 Grade over 311m and saw Redwood Princess lead and win for Geoff Collins with After Shock and Sea Biscuit filling the places in 18.28.

The club would like to thank all those who helped make it a successful meeting. The winners of the raffle were 1st prize Betty Cormack, 2nd prize Julie Meuller and 3rd prize Mitch Hadrill.

The club would also like to wish a speedy recovery to our Club Steward, Phillip Prest who has been in hospital in . Temora races again on 31 August.
