Shima Bar steals the show in Group 1 Paws of Thunder

TEAM Dailly have started the new year with a bang, with Shima Bar taking out the 1 final at on Saturday night.

Drawn beautifully in box one, Shima Bar was able to stalk the early leader Clock's Ticking (box six) in the charge towards the first turn.

Despite checking off heels and bumping with Falcon's Fury (box seven) through the catching pen, Shima Bar was able to balance up heading into the back straight before setting off in pursuit of the lamplighter.

Swinging for home, Shima Bar strode up beside Clock's Ticking before bursting clear to score by two lengths in a nippy 29.92.

Clock's Ticking held on for second, with Falcon's Fury filling the trifecta back in third spot.

Trained in Victoria by , Shima Bar has now won nine of his 13 starts, with Saturday's victory taking his career earnings to just under the $100,000 mark.

The 2015 whelp now looks ideally positioned to tackle the upcoming series at Wentworth Park, the heats of which are set to be held next Saturday night.
