Budding NZ Star Finished

, the greyhound with the best form line in New Zealand, is unlikely to race again.

The Foxton bitch, who had won her last seven races on end, and never finished further back than second, was expected to be a hot favourite for the final leg of today's big Pick Six at Auckland.

But she clipped heels and fell heavily at on night and was carried from the track by co- trainer with a bad break above the wrist.

Cawbourne Jessie was to be operated on yesterday afternoon by leading greyhound vet Steve McGill at Tokoroa.

“The break was pretty bad. The bone was exposed and it would rate a nine out of 10,” Freeman's training partner said yesterday.

“The vet might be able to pin it but the chances of her racing again look very slim.”

Owned by Sydney enthusiast Warren Bronson, Cawbourne Jessie won nine races and was twice runner-up in her previous 11 starts.

“She would have gone all the way to top class,” Turnwald said.
