$500 Fine And Probation For Falsifying Trainers Licence

have recently finalised an in to the falsification of licence documents and for being convicted of an indictable offence under Animal Care and Protection .

The Queensland greyhound trainer in question, Mr Glen Carlye was found guilty of the offences and handed a $500 fine and put on probation until the 30th June 2009.

Greyhounds Queensland Stewards on the 9th of March 2009 conducted an Inquiry in relation to falsification of licence renewal documents and further, obligations under Local Rule 24(17)(2) by Trainer Mr. Glen Carlyle.

Stewards directed Trainer Mr. Glen Carlyle of Goodna to appear.

Evidence was taken from Mr. Carlyle.

Stewards charged the Trainer under GAR 86 (d) which states;

    A person (including an official) shall be guilty of an offence if the person :
  • (d) being an owner, trainer, attendant or person having official duties in relation to greyhound racing, makes a false or misleading statement in relation to an investigation, examination, test or inquiry, or makes or causes to be made a falsification in a document in connection with greyhound racing or the registration of a greyhound;

And further under Local Rule 24(17)(2) which states :

    LR24 Licensing/registration
  • (17) The holder of a licence or registration shall, within 2 working days, notify the Authority in writing, of:

Mr. Carlyle pleaded guilty to the charges.

Stewards imposed 1 penalty for both charges.

Mr. Carlyle was fined $500 and placed on probation until the 30/06/2009.

Mr. Carlyle was read his Rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
