Agreement Reached On Townsville Greyhound Vision Fencing Issue

The meeting was very productive and delivered an amicable resolution to the current issue.

Racing Queensland chairman Mr said: “Today's meeting delivered a positive outcome that saw the TPAIA confirm that the fencing that impedes vision to the greyhound track will be collapsed following the conduct of the speedway event on September 23 and 24, 2011.”

TPAIA manager Mr Chris Condon said: “The showground is a multiuse facility and the TPAIA has an obligation to provide a safe working environment for all facility users. The TPAIA has a strong working relationship with the president of the Greyhound Racing Club and dialog between both entities has continued to ensure the provision of suitable outcomes for all concerned.”

Townsville Greyhound Racing Club president Mr said: “I am extremely pleased that discussions with the TPAIA have delivered an amicable resolution. Although the fencing will remain intact until after September 24, I am grateful for the assistance provided by the TPAIA to mitigate the impact on officials and the coverage during the next three weeks.”

The temporary measures will remain in place for another three weeks, subsequent to which the vision will be returned to normal.
