THE Queen of Albion Park, Cyndie's Magic, might be starting to get a bit grey around the gills, but her trainer says she is still going well enough to cause an upset in Thursday's Group 3 (600m).

Cyndie's Magic (Magic Sprite x Regal Silver Mar '13) for the $25,000 to the winner final with her phenomenal trademark finish in her heat last week, powering home from the back of the field to run third behind (Kiowa Mon Manny x Brook Lee Apr '15) and Miss Minaj (Shakey Jakey x Tina's Show Mar '15).

Elson said he was happy with her effort last Thursday – the 108th time she has finished in the top three throughout her 146 start career.

“It was a very good run in her heat,” Elson told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“You can't tell with her if she is going to get there because of her racing style and Jalapeno was too good on the night, but I was still very happy with her third.

“He gave her a bit of a bump on the home turn and that took her momentum a bit – if that didn't happen she might have won it.”

A winner of 44 races including the 2017 edition of the Queensland Cup, Cyndie's Magic has been renowned as one of the most consistent greyhounds in the Sunshine State since commencing her career in October 2014.

She has never won at the highest level but she has taken out a stack of features including the , the Winter Chase, the President's Cup, the Clem Jones Cup and the Winged Runner Trophy.

She has also run placings in five group races – four at level – and has made 10 group race finals throughout her career.

Her efforts on the race track have accumulated more than $412,000 in prize money for Elson, who bred the bonny bitch with his wife Cyndie.

“She is a good little bitch and she has always been very exciting,” Elson said.

“She is going very well considering her age and while she was probably going better this time 12 months ago she is still competitive and it would be nice to see her go out with another nice win.”

Elson says you can never rule Cyndie's Magic out of contention and says she is a good chance in the decider from box three – a draw from which she has won six races.

“She loves Albion Park – he knows every grain of sand there.

“The 600m is her best distance too. She drops out most of the time – but the extra 100m gives her more time to wind up and get going.

“Outside Pass is the dog to beat, but if she can get within four or five lengths of them coming off the back she will win.”

It will be no easy task for Cyndie's Magic up against a trio of runners trained by – Jalapeno, Miss Minaj and the likely race favourite, Outside Pass (Head Bound x Tina's Show Aug '13).

Outside Pass was the fastest heat winner, running down another Elson chaser, Cyn's Magic, to score by a head in 34.93.

Cyn's Magic also progresses through to the decider, for her 15th win at start 56

“I don't think there is much between my two and I give them both a big chance,” Elson said.

“Cyn's Magic is a good little bitch too and she should improve. She isn't as experienced over the 600m as some of the others and she was only beaten a head on the line by Outside Pass.”

The Group 3 Queensland Cup will be run and won at Albion Park this Thursday night.
