Doubles Dominate Rockhampton Card

Doubles to leading trainers Bill Boon, Christine Pollard and Andrew Suli were the highlights of the nine-race program at Callaghan Park on Saturday. There were also some smart times recorded and, on occasions, the form book was thrown out the window.

Pollard took the main race, the middle distance Best Eight, with her dog Alexis .

This was a race that went pretty much to the form guide, as Pollard's dog was expected to battle with Dallas Beckett's Dimple Assassin.

Alexis On Fire had the slightly better draw but won well, beating Dimple Assassin by three-and-a-half lengths.

Bill Boon's was over a length back in a race where the winning time cracked the 30-second mark.

has been out of sorts in recent races but on Saturday returned to winning ways by taking out the 1st/2nd grade race.

In a quick time of 23.52 seconds for the sprint event, the Walter Bennetts dog was just too speedy for the well-fancied Beckett dog and won by a length.

The consistent Barry Hall-dog Zoidberg was third. Pollard's other win came in the Maiden, where the red-hot favourite West Hot Bond was too classy in its first outing, beating the ' dog Addis Rose by a length and a half.

Andrew Suli claimed his double in the seventh and eighth races with winning the 3rd/ 4th grade and the 4th/ 5th.

Boon's dog Rubber Soles chased Candy Trick home while didn't live up to his favourite tag, trailing Hitech Belle.

Disillusioned showed his preference for the wider draw when powering home in the 5th grade Battlers Race, beating 's Kooder Gras by just half a length.

It was a blanket finish for the final race of the card, with Tim Jones' dog taking the money.
